In our Zoom meeting last week, we discussed the importance of not assuming another person or culture's lived experience based purely off of how our own cultural viewpoint. For example, many people in the US have been inundated with propaganda, which views Iraq as a war-zone, and associates the country with "terrorism" as a blanket statement, and then people in the US/the West do not take the time to learn and empathize with how Iraqi people think or feel, the real conditions within Iraq, and do not learn to look below the surface of what our own culture tells us about the differing countries in the Middle East. In many ways, this also flattens the experience of entire peoples, because it equates entire cultures or regions to one single overblown and offensive narrative. It is necessary we open respectful communication across different countries to better understand one another in our similarities and differences. This also provides a real-world basis to go off of when thinking about one place, instead of a cold overview, which lacks human connection and deeper understanding. It's important that we maintain empathy for one another's difference in experience, to work together towards solutions for a more peaceful world.

one of the things we discussed in class were the inadequate state of public transit. I was honestly a little surprised to realize that America wasn't the only culture that expected it's members to own a car. I feel like we would come a long was as a global community if we allowed more people not to get a car if they didn't want one, rather than making it a necessity. it would also be a great help for the environment, as people would not all be having an individual car to cause pollution. having a consistent public transit schedule would be great for everyone in the long run, but it looses car companies sales, so it will probably take a while to properly get into place.

My name is kalani and I am from Brooklyn, New York. I picked the education system because I believe the city is not the best when it comes to the school system. I think they need to put less student in class rooms, more professional teachers and actually care about the students. The school system has failed many students and I think that need to change ASAP because if school is so important why is the school system so corrupt!

Animals are a part of human life, and we should take care of them as they live in their natural environment. In addition, a zoo is a place where people can see different types of wild animals and learn about them closely. Therefore, KRG has some areas such as zoos that kind of animals there, but they do not care about them. For instance, they have a small square to live in, they do not have their food or expired, and the behavior of the visitors and workers of the zoo is so bad for animals. To conclude, if it sustains like this for animals which are kept imprisoned in tiny, dirty, bare spaces with no companionship of others they will die soon, and the species of them are going to extinct.

Economic growth, in general, has become a priority to many developing countries like my country of origin. By improving the economic state of a country, we could also help with reaching other goals, such as goal 1 (no poverty), goal 2 (zero hunger), goal 4 (quality education), and goal 13 (climate action), as all of the aforementioned goals require a country to be thriving economically so as to afford the needed capital to implement such reforms; disregarding corruption in the government or in the leading party. This is important especially in countries where the poverty rate is high, as the state of its people is generally only as good as its country's financial state.

Gender inequality exists all over the world, but it mostly in countries like Arab countries, like Iraq or Saudia Arabia. I think gender equality is important because it can allow women to be able to work and get paid and treated the same way men do because women tend to get paid less. Women need to be given a chance to be able to express themselves and show the world that they are capable of doing things that people expect them not to be able to. Having gender equality will help the need to feel superior against someone less.

Good education system quality is one of the best things to have in your country. This goal interested me because it is a big problem for all of us in our country. We in Iraq and specially in Kurdistan are facing many problems because of our education system. Education is important, because it can build the country in a very good way if it is good. The biggest problem in our education system is that it is not giving you enough abilities, enough knowledge and skills to get a job easily after graduating. We all can work on the educational system and make it be better with more quality.

Gender Equality has been an issue that time has begun. In common scenarios it is believed that a women should stay home and care for the children and well as becoming a glorified house cleaner. In today, many people make jokes about this scenario, but unfortunately it is still a reality for many women. Since the e pandemic studies have shown that women spend 2.5 times more house than men doing unpaid domestic and care work. Why us it believed that women must be caretakers, and a woman is unfit if she decided to put her child in daycare and go back to work, but when a man does that, it is not even a question. In the work force there is gender inequality, when you look at the numbers you see it clearly, women are always on the locale of positions in jobs. Society has shown repeatedly that they feel that some jobs are made for men and some jobs are made for women. In the local government as of 2021 records 36.3% are women and the rest are men. Not to just mention the work inequality but also eating into abuse. The statistic that went out months ago and was spread around was that 1 in 3 women which is 736 million have been subjected to physical and or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime since the age of 15. Looking at the numbers between domestic care work, the representation of women in power positions in the workforce, and the rates of physical and sexual abuse. That shows the gender inequality this is represented all over the world, and it shows that women end up getting the short stick due to the social contract of Reality that our society has created.
