1. In the story they start off by calling up all the families and they make them draw slips of paper. Next they all open the slips at the same time and whoever has a black dot on their slip has to have every member in their family draw again. Lastly whoever has the black dot on their slip gets pelted with rocks.
2. Mr. Warner is very close minded. When people were implying that they shouldn't partake in the lottery he got upset and started saying how crazy the young people were for even thinking about quiting the lottery

1. In "The Lottery", 300 villagers gather once a year for the lottery. Each family picks a slip of paper from a black box and only one piece has a black dot, this year the Hutchinson family got the black dot. Then, the members of the black dot family each get a new piece of paper and whoever gets the black dot this time is stoned. Tessie Hutchinson was stoned this year.
2. Old Man Warner is a very traditional and he does not show mercy to anybody who is pick to be stoned. Especially since it is his 77th year participating in the lottery. He also thought that the younger people in the villages are trying to change everything and that "nothing's good enough for them" anymore.

It is where they have a drawing and all the heads of the house holds draw a card to see if it has a black dot on it. Then whoever has the black dot on the card which this year was the Hutchinson. Then the whole family has to draw again and the winner of that round was Tessie Hutchinson. She then gets stoned.
2. Old man Warner is very traditional and likes the same ways. In the story it said '"Seventy-seventh year I been in the lottery," Old Man Warner said as he went through the crowd. "Seventy-seventh time."' He has been through the lottery 77 times and wants to stick with it. Some of the other towns are quitting it but he thinks its smart to keep doing.

Summary: Every year, there is a town lottery, in which one person from one family is picked to be brutally stoned for prosperity of the crops for the next year. The head of each household picks a slip of paper, if that family gets the marked paper, every member of that family picks, and whomever gets the marked paper that time pays the price. This year, the Hutchinson family was picked, and Bill Hutchinson’s defiant wife Tessie was picked to be stoned.

Character Summary: Mr. Warner is a very traditional, stuck in his ways old man. He is very adamant about the lottery staying tradition and dislikes that lotteries are being stopped. When someone told him this he said "Nothing but trouble in that, pack of young fools." He has been in the lottery for 77 years and very much believes in it.

One family out of 300 get picked for "the lottery", you know you got picked if you have a black dot on your paper slip. The Hutchinson's got picked and then there family had a mini lottery and whoever got the slip with the black dot out of the family they were stoned. One adjective to describe Mrs. Tessie would be anxious. Mrs. Tessie is anxious because she got picked for the lottery and knew she had the chance of getting killed within her family. For example in the text it says, ""It isn't fair, it isn't right," Mrs Hutchinson screamed, and then they were upon her."

In the short story "The Lottery" a very small town with a population of a little above 300 they have a tradition of an annual lottery that negatively impacts the winner. Mr. Summers holds the lottery every year, each family picks a piece of paper out of the black box. The family with the black dot on their piece of paper "wins," after a family is picked one family member will be the final "winner." That person will have stones thrown at them, Tessie Hutchinson was the one who ended up with the black dot.
2- Old Man Warner was old fashioned. He didn't want things to change in the town ". "Pack of crazy fools," he said. "Listening to the young folks... There's always been a lottery," He doesn't like that some towns aren't doing lotteries anymore.

In the story "the Lottery" it shows the traditions of a small town lottery. In this lottery one family member from the family who draws a black dot is picked to be annually stoned. Mr. Hutchinson is a calm individual because when he found out his family was picked he didn't say anything, and he told his wife to stop freaking out and to shut up. "shut up, Tessie," Bill Hutchinson said.

1. "The Lottery" starts off in a way that makes the readers believe that the lottery is the traditional event in town that people get excited for. The story starts hinting at the idea that that the lottery is actually a negative event when Mrs. Hutchinson claims that it is not fair that her husband picked the ticket that he did. The readers are finally shown that the lottery is an awful event when Mrs. Hutchinson is the one picked out of all the Hutchinsons and the townspeople begin to throw rocks at her. 2. Mr. Summers is insensitive because in the story he volunteers to run the lottery every time which makes readers believe that the horrific award does not bother him. Also at the end of the story when Mrs. Hutchinson is about to be stoned, he nonchalantly encourages the townspeople finish stoning her fast so that they can go back to work. He makes it seem that stoning Mrs. Hutchinson really is not horrific.
