The sleep nurse works directly with you and your family to create a bespoke care plan to help get your child settled into a good sleep routine.

This test is carried out by a specialist Dr. The appointment takes approximately 90 minutes. This appointment will be on Thursday.

Our play specialist assists medical and nursing staff by helping patients to prepare for procedures and treatments. We also offer distraction, to patients having blood tests and treatments.

Botox injections relax the muscles and can enable greater stretching to take place during normal activity and physiotherapy. It is extremely important that regular physiotherapy takes place after the procedure for maximum results.

Children are offered an appointment in Botox Clinic once they have been assessed and referred by the physiotherapist.

Before attending for a blood test, always give your child plenty to drink.

The nurses in clinic are experienced at taking blood from children. On arrival you will be asked if your child would like local anesthetic cream. This takes 30 minutes for the area to become numb. On older children a local anesthetic spray can be used. The spray works immediately, but is very cold and some children, particularly under 5 do not like the cold feeling. The nurses will talk to you about this when you attend for a blood test.

Often at this appointment, a urine sample is also collected. If you can bring a sample with you, this will be very helpful.

There is always a hospital play specialist present to provide distraction and comfort for your child throughout this procedure.
