I've taken in a lot of information in a short span of time and I'm still processing so here goes my thoughts. Instructional leadership is critical to the process of improving student achievement in schools. From the theory side I have the process down of using student achievement data to drive decisions. Creating a plan to improve. Brainstorm barriers and ways to get around. Monitor. Make adjustments. I've always said that relationships in all this plays a major part. Relationships from the district down to the paraprofessional. The leaders must have relational skills as well as the other skills that were mentioned in the prior readings.

Educational leaders play an integral part within each learning community. Building positive working relationships with organizations like the PTA, the instructional team, the students, and community advocates are essential to your effectiveness as a leader. In my experience thus far, it seems like having a great team around you is an essential aspect to becoming a great leader. The position can seem overwhelming at times with financial accountability, student safety, and school management to tackle as well. Leaders must possess the ability to communicate their vision and inspire individuals to come together for the betterment of the students. At times it will be challenging, but empowering teachers and doing what's best for the students will always be a step in the right direction.
