According to the description of the context to work, we can say that the school population corresponds to sixth graders of the I.E.D Jose Joaquín Castro Martinez school. This school is located in the fourth town of San Cristobal in the south of the Bogotá city. The student’s group is defined as a mixed population comprised of boys and girls from 10 to 13 years’ ages approximately. They are students with socioeconomic conditions characteristic of 1 and 2 social strata, which shows low economic and school performance. Students’ parents might work in no-formal Jobs. Many of their homes are dysfunctional, in some cases the students live with their mother only, in other cases with their father and in common cases with different relatives like uncles, aunts and grandparents. These situations could generate poorly organized home that might affect the adequate accompaniment, support and monitoring of the students’ process in the school.

Regarding the academic process, it is a population with different learning rhythms, they are very interested in all the activities that might include technology as a tool for learning. It implies that the teacher reevaluates their teaching practice and includes technological and computer activities in their daily pedagogical activities. This possibility would allow them to generate greater interest and motivation towards their learning processes because of they could participate in more innovative and interesting educational environment. Students show difficulties in their study habits and lack of accompaniment and support by parents or caregivers in their school process. For this reason, the technology might be an adequate tool for students to generate greater motivation in their school process.

by ANDREA DEL PILAR ZÁCIPA CORREDOR

It is located in locality 11 of Suba, one of the 20 localities of Bogotá, located to the northwest of the city, in the Tibabuyes neighborhood.

The right to education is guaranteed at the preschool, basic primary, basic secondary and middle levels, in three locations and two working days, serving approximately 3,000 students. Each grade is made up of groups of children ranging from 20 to 30 in each classroom.

Population:

The students who attend the educational institution belong to families belonging to socioeconomic strata 1 and 2. Most of whom are engaged in informal work and street sales, some of its members have formal employment in private security companies, in the hypermarkets and local businesses. They come from different parts of the country, there is a significant number of families that have their origin in the Caribbean and Pacific region, others are Venezuelan migrants who arrive in the capital of the Republic in search of job opportunities and better living conditions.

The group made up of 25 boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 11. Regarding the academic process, most are at a basic and medium level of appropriation of knowledge in the different areas of knowledge. The low academic level is evident in those who come from other regions of the country and migrants, derived from the constant change of school and even the deschooling to which boys and girls are subjected.

A positive trend is observed regarding activities that allow them to develop and expand skills related to the proper use of technological tools. Technology in itself does not produce changes, but articulated with the context and the interests of the students, they bring about positive transformations.

By SANDRA CECILIA LOPEZ RODRIGUEZ
