Jim Hawkins: He is the son of an innkeeper at the Admiral Benbow Inn, and is at his early teens. He is a brave boy that is eagerly enthusiastic to go on for sea adventure. This unique narrator is the main character in the story Novel Treasure Island and plays a very important role in finding the treasure.

Billy Bones: He is an eccentric, paranoid and an alcoholic person. The novel defines or shows him as a very fierce character regarding his relationship with Captain Flint and Long John Silver since he was with the mutineers. This surprisingly, strong and furious character not only was a mutineer but played a very enormous role from the creation of the problem.

Dr.Livesey: He is a cool-tempered, honest and loyal man. He wears a snowy white-powdered wig and a blue shirt under his sea green coat. He is a very smart man, as defined in the novel, and takes everything carefully and step-by-step.

Squire Trelawney: He is a joyful man and expresses his emotions very well. He is good at gunfiring and plays a vital role in defeating the mutineers. The Squire is close friends with Dr.Livesey and Jim Hawkins but despised Captain Smollett in the beginning of the sea voyage.

Captain Smollett: He is a strict but strong person. He is a savvy character and suspects the crew Trelawney has hired. He displays his role seriously like a negotiator and is very keen in finding the treasure.

Long John Silver: He is the most evil and wicked villains in the novel Treasure Island of all. He is also not true to type in some ways that Jim himself says, "He has a foot in either camp." Despite the fact that he is missing one leg, Long John Silver is still too tall and strong that he can kill many in a short amount of time since he was in Flint's crew.

★Chapter 1★

A mysterious captain comes to stay at the inn named Billy Bones and demands everyone to call him Captain Bill. A young boy named Jim Hawkins is introduced and becomes close friends with Billy Bones. Billy Bones disrupts the inn by telling scary stories to all the customers at the inn and by paying less money. Billy Bones then always go out in the morning to look for any seafaring men or ships.

★Chapter 2★

An old shipmate of Billy Bones, Black Dog arrives and after a short fight that causes disruption, Black Dog runs away with his shoulder bleeding and Billy Bones faints. Then the character, Dr.Livesey is introduced that helps treat Billy Bones.

★Chapter 3★

When Billy Bones wakes up, he asks Jim for rum and after many arguments, he finally gets it. A few hours later, poor Jim's father dies and many funerals happen.

★Chapter 4★

A few days later, when Billy Bones recovered, a blind man named Pew that was part of Flint's crew just like Billy Bones comes in the Admiral Benbow Inn, rudely almost breaks Jim's wrist, gives Billy Bones the black spot and walks away like nothing happened. When Billy Bones got the black spot, he became so panicked that he got a heart attack and died.

★Chapter 5★

After seeing Billy Bones death, Jim cries and calls his mother to tell her everything. Then her mother insists to go tell other people this and ask for help but when they did, no one volunteered. So both the son and mother went back to the inn and opened the mysterious treasure chest that Billy Bones first brought with him. Inside, they found six curious seashells, some clothing, a bag of coins and Flint's fist (The treasure map). Then they heard a siren of the pirates and Jim quickly got Flint's fist and went to hide under the bridge, carrying his mother who was about to faint.

★Chapter 6★

Suddenly, many horsemen came and some rode over Pew, for which he died. The horsemen scared away the pirates and carried Jim Hawkins and his mother to the Squire where Dr.Livesey was. Then Jim Hawkins told everything to the Squire and Dr.Livesey and also showed them Flint's fist, for which eventually they arranged a sea voyage in order to find the treasure in which Jim Hawkins was the cabin boy.

★Chapter 7★

Dr.Livesey has received a letter from Squire Trelawney describing the ship and crew that he has obtained. The ship has been procured through one of Trelawney's acquaintances in Bristol, a man who seems all too ready to help him and has a poor reputation in the city. The ship is called the Hipaniola.

★Chapter 8★

Jim Hawkins sets off happily to find the sailor. Silver is more clean-cut than Jim expects, but Jim recognizes him and introduces himself. Just then, another customer in the bar suddenly gets up to leave, attracting Jim's attention. Jim recognizes the man as Black Dog and informs Silver.

★Chapter 9★

Captain Smollett is very opinionated, and speaks openly about his dislike of most of the crew and about the fact that he has a bad feeling about the voyage. Smollett also adds that there has been too much blabbing about the map and the treasure, though Trelawney protests that he has told no one.

★Chapter 10★

At the voyage, Jim gets hungry and goes to eat an apple from the apple barrel. But since there was only one apple left, he sat inside the barrel, ate the last apple left and slept. When he woke up he heard Long John Silver talking with another shipmate named Dick and Israel Hands. Long John Silver reveals that he is an evil pirate and mutineer, part of Flint's crew, and most of the other pirates on the ship where mutineers too. He also reveals that the mutineers will plan to attack the honest men when they will have the treasure and the mutineers will keep the treasure all for themselves when they would have killed the honest men.

He presses something mysterious into the captain's palm, and the captain is dead after.

Chapter 4

Armed with a gun, Jim returns with his mother to the inn. He searches through the dead Billy's clothing to find the key to the treasure chest. Finding the key around Billy's neck, Jim and his mother open the chest and find gold hidden at the bottom, a portion of which Jim's mother claims as her due.

Chapter 5

The eight men are surprised to find the inn door open and Billy dead. They are concerned about the chest and seem disappointed that it contains only Billy's money: clearly they are more interested in something else that belonged to Flint.

Chapter 6

The group heads to Trelawney's residence, where they find the two men in the library. Livesey examines the oilskin packet that Jim has recovered. Trelawney claims that the pirate Flint is more bloodthirsty than Blackbeard and has accumulated a huge fortune.

Chapter 7

Livesey has received a letter from Squire Trelawney describing the ship and crew that he has obtained. The ship has been procured through one of Trelawney's acquaintances in Bristol, a man who seems all too ready to help him and has a poor reputation in the city. The ship is called the Hispaniola.

Chapter 8

Jim sets off happily to find the sailor. Silver is more clean-cut than Jim expects, but Jim recognizes him and introduces himself. Just then, another customer in the bar suddenly gets up to leave, attracting Jim's attention. Jim recognizes the man as Black Dog and informs Silver.

Chapter 9

Smollett is very opinionated, and speaks openly about his dislike of most of the crew and about the fact that he has a bad feeling about the voyage. Smollett also adds that there has been too much blabbing about the map and the treasure, though Trelawney protests that he has told no one.

Chapter 10

The voyage begins on an ominous note, as the first mate, Mr. Arrow, turns out to be a hopeless drunk who is useless on board. He disappears mysteriously one night, leading the others to presume that he fell overboard in his drunkenness. The boatswain, Job Anderson, replaces Arrow.

Treasure island Summary chapter 11-20

Hiding in the apple barrel, Jim overhears Long John Silver telling several other crewmembers about some of his adventures with old Flint. Silver mentions that he has nearly three thousand pounds safely hidden away in the bank, gained from his exploits with the other “gentlemen of fortune,” which Jim correctly guesses is just another word for pirates. Jim learns that most of old Flint’s former crewmembers are on board the ship now, posing as ordinary crew but plotting to take the treasure for themselves. Silver mentions that some of the other crewmembers have joined the conspirators, though others have refused. Jim watches the pirates partake of a secret stash of rum.

Chapter 12

As the men drink, the cry of “Land ho!” is heard from on deck. With the island visible before them, Smollett and his crew discuss the best place to drop anchor. Smollett consults a map of the island, and Jim notices that it is an exact copy of the treasure map he saw before, but without the “X” marking the treasure’s hiding place. Silver knows the island well, and offers advice, enthusiastically telling Jim how much he enjoys the island. Smollett congratulates the crew on a job well done, and then meets with Trelawney below deck. Later, Jim goes below deck and warns Smollett and Trelawney about Silver’s criminal intentions, telling them what he overheard while hiding in the apple barrel. Trelawney immediately admits that he has been a fool in hiring the crew and trusting Silver. Smollett urges everyone to stay vigilant.

Chapter 13

Having approached the island in sweltering weather, the crew is irritable and discontent. Dr. Livesey warns the men that they may be at risk of contracting tropical diseases on the island. Silver, with his knowledge of the island's geography, advises Captain Smollett of a good place to drop anchor.

Chapter 14

Angry, Tom tries to leave Silver, but Silver breaks Tom's back and stabs him to death. Silver whistles for his men, and Hawkins sneaks away and runs for his life. Hawkins concludes he's doomed to either starve on the island or be murdered by Silver's men.

Chapter 15

Jim Hawkins secretly stowed aboard a small boat with the group of men who went ashore after the Hispaniola anchored. He has also witnessed Long John Silver murder a man who refused to join the mutiny and take over the ship.

Chapter 16

The captain, the squire, and the doctor know who the enemy is but not what the enemy has. Livesey and Hunter go ashore and find the stockade by the spring and see the strong position they're up against

Chapter 17

the captain and those with him leaving the ship and transporting all the supplies they can to the shore. The boat is overloaded though and the boat takes on water as the currents throw them off course.

Chapter 18

the doctor takes over the narration and tells his part of the story. He and the other shipmates are running from the mutineers. They spot and are able to shoot one of the bad guys. Soon after, the mutineers shoot back and a man named Tom dies.

Chapter 19

The group buries Redruth in the sand, before eating pork and drinking brandy for dinner. They decide that their best hope is to battle the pirates whenever they can, until they either surrender or run off with the Hispaniola. All night, they hear the pirates roaring and singing under the influence of rum.

Chapter 20

Long John Silver and another pirate arrive at the stockade to negotiate a treaty between the mutineers and Captain Smollett. Smollett doesn't trust Silver so his men stand guard as Silver offers to let them live if they hand over the treasure map.

Chapter 21

Silver's pirates launch their attack and lose five of their men. On the captain's side, only Joyce is killed and Hunter left unconscious. Jim Hawkins, the narrator, has made it through another brush with death, now at the hands of the boatswain before he is cut down by Gray.

Chapter 22

The people in the block house regroup and Dr. Livesey treats the wounded. He then sets out into the woods with a musket to find Ben Gunn, who has been marooned on the island for years. Jim Hawkins decides to venture out also, hoping to find Ben Gunn's hidden boat.

Chapter 23

Jim takes Ben's boat out to the Hispaniola and cuts away the ties to the anchor. While working, he hears Israel Hands and the man in the red night cap screaming in a drunken rage at one another and other pirates singing around a campfire.

Chapter 24

Upon awakening, Jim discovers that he has drifted to the southwest end of Treasure Island. Paddling toward shore is useless, as he would be dashed to death on the rocks that form this edge of the island. Jim decides to try to make his way toward a friendlier shoreline to the north.

Chapter 25

Jim's taking over of the Hispaniola. On deck, he finds that the only other man alive is wounded and in need of brandy, and the rest of the ship is in disorder with little supply left.

Chapter 26

Jim and Israel Hands are on the Hispaniola. Jim spies on Israel when he thinks he's below deck and Jim sees that Israel proves more mobile than he thought and is armed with a knife. Under Israel's direction, Jim steers the ship almost to shore and Israel attempts to stab him.

Chapter 27

Jim Hawkins, having taken over the nearly unmanned Hispaniola, has battled with the only other man on board, Israel Hands. A fight between Jim and Hands leaves Jim badly wounded and Hands shot. Jim finds himself now staring down at the water, where Israel Hands surfaces once before sinking into the ocean.

Chapter 28

Jim accidentally enters the pirates' camp and finds that only six of the pirates are still alive. Long John Silver addresses Jim fondly, telling the boy that he reminds Silver of what he was like when he was young.

Chapter 29

Jim and Silver inside the stockade having agreed to help each other out after the remaining men went outside for council. One of the men reenters the stockade to borrow the torch, which leaves Jim and Silver alone in the dark.

Chapter 30

Livesey comes to tend to the injured pirates and then asks to speak with Jim alone. Long John Silver agrees as long as Jim promises to not run away. During their conversation, Jim tells the doctor where he has docked the boat, and the doctor promises to do all he can to save Jim when things turn bad.

Chapter 31

Jim and Silver sit down to breakfast, and Jim is astonished by the fact that the band has prepared three times as much food as is needed. Silver's men are happy, confident of seizing the treasure soon, but Jim is sad in his certainty that Silver will betray him at the soonest practical moment.

Chapter 32

The pirates hear the voice again, and it wails what all the men recognize as Flint's last words. One of the men takes out his Bible and starts praying. Silver, the only one who remains undaunted, scorns the other men's belief in spirits and keeps focused on the search for the treasure.

Chapter 33

Jim coldly accuses Silver of changing sides again. The men dig in the pit and find a few coins. One of them accuses Silver of having known all along that the treasure was gone. The angered pirates suddenly seem united against Silver and begin to move upon him.

Chapter 34

They've left three pirates marooned on Treasure Island. While recruiting more men for the Hispaniola crew, so they can get home, Silver sneaks off the ship with a sack of coins and a boat and is never heard from again. When they get home, the treasure is divided and the men go their separate ways.

★Chapter 11★

After when Jim heard what Long John Silver revealed to Dick and Israel Hands, the island is discovered. Then Jim joined in running with Joyce and Doctor Livesey to see what they have found the Skeleton and Treasure Island. Long John Silver acts honest again and tells Captain Smollett about the land when he was here with the Merchant ship, also hiding the fact that Long John Silver came here with a pirate ship, and was an evil pirate and mutineer himself.

★Chapter 12★

The next morning when Jim saw the island, it looked dull and was not much colourful but it did have a horrible smell. Even the ship's crew was tired and had a bad mood since of doing alot of work, but Long John Silver forced a smile and tried to encourage the pirates, despite the fact that they were all annoyed. Jim told all the honest men on the ship aboard about the evil pirates plan, and most of them were agitated by the terrible news. Just then, Captain Smollett and Squire Trelawney, gave the ship's crew a break to explore the island to cheer up the crew members (most which were pirates). Many crew members went to the island by the small boats while there were 6 pirates left, so Jim decided to go hide in the boat to go to the island with them. When one of the boats were near the land, Jim quickly jumped out of the boat and landed on the sand, then he ran as quickly he could, so no one would notice him. As Jim wandered around the island, he discovered very weird flowers, snakes and animals, most which he had never seen before. When Jim was exploring the island, he suddenly heard footsteps of a group of pirates, so he quickly went to hide behind some of the old, dull, light green bushes.

★Chapter 13★

Just then, when Jim was hiding behind the bushes, he saw Long John Silver offering an honest man named Tom to join the evil crew of pirates and mutineers. But after a strict denial, with rage and anger, Long John Silver threw his stick at Tom's back, while Tom gasped for air but fainted. Then Long John Silver took out his knife and stabbed him 7 times in the back, killing him painfully and then wiping the blood of his knife by some tall grass. After seeing a brutal death, and so much going on in his mind, Jim fainted behind the bushes.

★Chapter 14★

When Jim finally woke up, he then knew that he had fainted for so long so he ran along the island looking for help but suddenly, he saw a big dark shadow of a creature but it looked like a bear or another animal or even a human. But when Jim tried to get far away from the shadow, it chased him along that made Jim think if that living creature was a cannibal, so he took out his pistol to defend himself. But as he drew nearer Jim discovered it was a poor human being who was kneeling down to Jim for help. The man's name was Ben Gunn and he was marooned by Captain Flint's crew for 3 years, so he was a part of the honest men since he despised and had negative thoughts of Long John Silver. Ben Gunn also craved for a civilized diet, especially for toasted bread and cheese. After a long time of talking, Jim and Ben Gunn eventually had a close relationship with each other. Ben Gunn then told that if anyone would want to meet him, they must carry something white and come alone because Ben Gunn had reasons of his own and he would only be available from 1:00 PM to about 6:00. Then Jim and Ben Gunn saw the flag of the Union Jack.

★Chapter 15★

At the Hispaniola ship, Redruth, Captain Smollett, Mr.Trelawney, and Dr.Livesey make sure that none of the pirates aboard signal Silver. Then Dr.Livesey goes with Joyce on a small boat to the island and discovers the stockade to see a spring water that was particularly advantageous so he thinks of moving all the items there and to stay there for a few weeks or so.

★Chapter 16★

When Dr.Livesey and Joyce were about to go back, they heard a gunshot and a loud, painful scream of someone dying that made Dr.Livesey think that Jim Hawkins is dead. Then Squire Trelawney had his head in his hands and Captain Smollett whispered to Dr.Livesey that the pirate, Abraham Gray, almost got scared in guilt, and when Dr.Livesey, Joyce, Redruth, and Squire Trelawney load in stuff in the boat, Captain Smollett advises Abraham Gray to join the honest men team but the other pirates forced him to stay with the mutineers but, after Abraham pushed away the other pirates he came to Captain Smollett with a bloody scar on his cheek, but not that bad.

★Chapter 17★

When the men load the supplies on the boat, the boat becomes even more overloaded with Dr.Livesey, Tom Redruth, Squire Trelawney, Captain Smollett, Joyce and Abraham Gray sitting in it. Just then, the men also began to suspect the pirates they had left on the Hispaniola ship. Suddenly, Dr.Livesey realizes that they forgot the canon on the ship and even some stock of gunpowder and they had already saw Israel Hands loading up the canon. The honest men on the little boat were then in a high risk of serious danger by then.

★Chapter 18★

Captain Smollett then gave Squire Trelawney his gun, since he was a good shooter. When the pirates aimed the cannon at the honest men and fired, Squire Trelawney shot from his gun and it hit another evil pirate behind Israel Hands and the canon ball hit roughly and sank deep in the ocean that made the enormous waves to crash into the honest men's little boat and all the supplies were left deep in the water except for 2 guns. By then, all the honest men had reached the land safely without any injuries or harm.

★Chapter 19★

Dr.Livesey and the other honest men shipmates ran from the mutineers. They spot and are able to shoot one of the bad guys. Soon after, the mutineers shoot back and Tom Redruth dies. The honest men shipmates bring him to the stockade and lay him down under the British flag. Jim moves from one hiding place to another, and finally manages to creep towards the stockade. From a hill, he catches sight of pirates on the beach destroying something with axes (he'll later learn it was the jolly-boat). He also notices a group of pirates who, by the sound of it, have been drinking rum.

★Chapter 20★

Long John Silver and another pirate arrive at the stockade to negotiate a treaty between the mutineers and Captain Smollett. Smollett doesn't trust Silver so his men stand guard as Silver offers to let them live if they hand over the treasure map.

★Chapter 21★

Silver's pirates launch their attack and lose five of their men. On the captain's side, only Joyce is killed and Hunter left unconscious. Jim Hawkins, the narrator, has made it through another brush with death, now at the hands of the boatswain before he is cut down by Gray.

★Chapter 22★

Dr.Livesey goes walking out in the trees, taking the map with him. Gray asks whether Livesey has gone mad, but Jim answers that Livesey is going to speak to Ben Gunn. Left inside to clean up the bloody mess of the earlier attack, Jim grows impatient, yearning to do something more heroic.

★Chapter 23★

Jim takes Ben's boat out to the Hispaniola and cuts away the ties to the anchor. While working, he hears Israel Hands and the man in the red night cap screaming in a drunken rage at one another and other pirates singing around a campfire.

★Chapter 24★

Upon awakening, Jim discovers that he has drifted to the southwest end of Treasure Island. Paddling toward shore is useless, as he would be dashed to death on the rocks that form this edge of the island. Jim decides to try to make his way toward a friendlier shoreline to the north.

★Chapter 25★

Jim takes over the Hispaniola and is control of the ship. On deck, he finds that the only other man alive is wounded and in need of brandy, and the rest of the ship is in disorder with little supply left.

★Chapter 26★

Jim and Israel Hands are on the Hispaniola. Jim spies on Israel when he thinks he's below deck and Jim sees that Israel proves more mobile than he thought and is armed with a knife. Under Israel's direction, Jim steers the ship almost to shore and Israel attempts to stab him.

★Chapter 27★

Jim Hawkins, having taken over the nearly unmanned Hispaniola, has battled with the only other man on board, Israel Hands. A fight between Jim and Hands leaves Jim badly wounded and Hands shot. Jim finds himself now staring down at the water, where Israel Hands surfaces once before sinking into the ocean.

★Chapter 28★

Jim accidentally enters the pirates' camp and finds that only six of the pirates are still alive. Long John Silver addresses Jim fondly, telling the boy that he reminds Silver of what he was like when he was young.

★Chapter 29★

Jim and Silver are inside the stockade, agreeing to help each other out after the remaining men went outside for council. One of the men reenters the stockade to borrow the torch, which leaves Jim and Silver alone in the dark.

★Chapter 30★

Dr.Livesey comes to tend to the injured pirates and then asks to speak with Jim alone. Long John Silver agrees as long as Jim promises to not run away. During their conversation, Jim tells the doctor where he has docked the boat, and the doctor promises to do all he can to save Jim when things turn bad.

★Chapter 31★

Jim and Silver sit down to breakfast, and Jim is astonished by the fact that the band has prepared three times as much food as is needed. Silver's men are happy, confident of seizing the treasure soon, but Jim is sad in his certainty that Silver will betray him at the soonest practical moment.

★Chapter 32★

The pirates hear the voice again, and it wails what all the men recognize as Flint's last words. One of the men takes out his Bible and starts praying. Silver, the only one who remains undaunted, scorns the other men's belief in spirits and keeps focused on the search for the treasure.

★Chapter 33★

Jim coldly accuses Silver of changing sides again. The men dig in the pit and find a few coins. One of them accuses Silver of having known all along that the treasure was gone. The angered pirates suddenly seem united against Silver and begin to move upon him.

★Chapter 34★

They've left three pirates marooned on Treasure Island. While recruiting more men for the Hispaniola crew, so they can get home, Silver sneaks off the ship with a sack of coins and a boat and is never heard from again. When they get home, the treasure is divided and the men go their separate ways.

The group heads to Trelawney's residence, where they find the two men in the library.

In Chapter 21 of Treasure Island, Silver's pirates launch their attack and lose five of their men. On the captain's side, only Joyce is killed and Hunter left unconscious. Jim Hawkins, the narrator, has made it through another brush with death, now at the hands of the boatswain before he is cut down by Gray.Livesey go walking out into the trees, taking the map with him. Gray asks whether Livesey has gone mad, but Jim answers that Livesey is going to speak to Ben Gunn. Left inside to clean up the bloody mess of the earlier attack, Jim grows impatient, yearning to do something more heroic. In Chapter 23 of 'Treasure Island', Jim takes Ben's boat out to the Hispaniola and cuts away the ties to the anchor. While working, he hears Israel Hands and the man in the red night cap screaming in a drunken rage at one another and other pirates singing around a campfire.Jim wakes up and finds himself about a quarter of a mile offshore of the southwest end of the island. He decides to row to shore but can't – there are so many rocks that it's not safe for him to get close. He also sees sea lions on the coast, which freaks him out.Chapter 25 of 'Treasure Island' shows Jim's taking over of the Hispaniola. On deck, he finds that the only other man alive is wounded and in need of brandy, and the rest of the ship is in disorder with little supply left.In Chapter 26, Jim and Israel Hands are on the Hispaniola. Jim spies on Israel when he thinks he's below deck and Jim sees that Israel proves more mobile than he thought and is armed with a knife. Under Israel's direction, Jim steers the ship almost to shore and Israel attempts to stab him.Jim Hawkins, having taken over the nearly unmanned Hispaniola, has battled with the only other man on board, Israel Hands. A fight between Jim and Hands leaves Jim badly wounded and Hands shot. Jim finds himself now staring down at the water, where Israel Hands surfaces once before sinking into the ocean.Jim accidentally enters the pirates' camp and finds that only six of the pirates are still alive. Long John Silver addresses Jim fondly, telling the boy that he reminds Silver of what he was like when he was young.Chapter 29 of Treasure Island or 'The Black Spot Again' opens with Jim and Silver inside the stockade having agreed to help each other out after the remaining men went outside for council. One of the men reenters the stockade to borrow the torch, which leaves Jim and Silver alone in the dark.Livesey comes to tend to the injured pirates and then asks to speak with Jim alone. Long John Silver agrees as long as Jim promises to not run away. During their conversation, Jim tells the doctor where he has docked the boat, and the doctor promises to do all he can to save Jim when things turn bad.Chapter 31 opens with Long John Silver expressing his gratitude to Jim Hawkins for not abandoning him when he had a chance to escape with Doctor Livesey. The pirates hear the voice again, and it wails what all the men recognize as Flint's last words. One of the men takes out his Bible and starts praying. Silver, the only one who remains undaunted, scorns the other men's belief in spirits and keeps focused on the search for the treasure.Chapter 33, "The Fall of a Chieftain"), the men are dumbstruck. Silver recovers first, hands Jim a pistol, and leads him to a position across the excavation from the other five men, who now, after their first shock is over, turn openly on Silver. They've left three pirates marooned on Treasure Island. While recruiting more men for the Hispaniola crew, so they can get home, Silver sneaks off the ship with a sack of coins and a boat and is never heard from again. When they get home, the treasure is divided and the men go their separate ways.
