Subject Line: Announcement: Strengthening Addiction & Mental Health Services in Waukesha County

We are excited to share that Family Service of Waukesha County and Addiction Resource Council, Inc. will be merging on April 1, 2026.

As part of this transition, Addiction Resource Council, Inc. will relocate its operations to Family Service at 2727 N. Grandview Blvd, Suite 205, Waukesha, WI 53188. The phone number and email addresses for both organizations will remain the same for now.

This merger brings together complementary services and expertise to create a more comprehensive approach to addiction recovery, mental health care, and family support throughout Waukesha County.

By joining forces, we can strengthen our current reach in the community by combining the strengths of two trusted agencies, expand services beyond what one organization could deliver alone, and provide more coordinated, comprehensive care that addresses both mental health and substance use.

What this means for you:

· Referral processes will remain consistent in the near term

· Services will continue without disruption

· Over time, we anticipate expanded offerings and streamlined coordination

We value our partnership and look forward to continuing our work together in this next chapter. More information will be shared in the coming months. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.

Opioid Settlement funds

ASAM 4 training

Thanks to all who registered for the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria 4th edition model training and to WCTC for hosting. We reached capacity and have had additional requests, so we are exploring another session later in the year.

City of Waukesha Fire Department

We will be hosting a car seat fitting event, looking like the second week of June. We may have some car seats available if families register early enough. Once the flyer is complete, I will pop it on this post!

From my conversations with other people in recovery and from my own experience, it was noticed that often when a person goes into a recovery program such as IOP or inpatient services programming often revolves around the science of how drugs impact the person's mind and body, how addiction impacts them, to change people/places/things. One area that is commonly left undiscussed is how to go about daily living activities. How does one create a resume to get a new job, how to take care of their home, how to have conversations about their substance use and recovery. Sometimes when people have been in the addiction loop for long periods of time, they need assistance in daily life in order to support their recovery- not just things that are directly attached to SUD. While I recognize that it may be difficult to implement with funding often being tied to curricula, but I thought I would share the observation. Thanks y'all!!

"In this report, we detail and analyze the current availability of MOUD in Wisconsin jails and prisons, as reported by state Department of Corrections officials as well as county sheriffs and jail administrators, and compare it to the availability of MOUD when the last statewide study was performed in 2021. We also examine the circumstances under which people in jails or prisons can receive MOUD, and identify gaps that still exist in the availability of MOUD across the state."
