Hard to follow the plot so I've been using it as a relaxing way to get used to the vocabulary and to try and pick out numbers, pronouns and other words that are commonly used.
How did it go/nest step:
It has been really useful listening to the fast talking compared to the German classes and labs. This helped me when I was listening to the vocabulary tapes from the book which are slower than the TV series.

After both videos I was much more comfortable with when and how to use them, especially how they relate to similar words in English. Next I need to practice all the different forms to use when using different articles and genders.

Date 04/04/18
Practices family names and more personal objects using Padlet and Duolingo app. Both of these were used to increase vocabulary knowledge in extension to the words learned in class. I struggled with remembering the genders of each noun. The family names are easy to remember but nouns are much harder. I tried to practice by looking around uni/my house for things that I had learned and trying to remember the name and gender of each thing. This was useful and it really helps to say anything I know the word for in German in German and not say it in English. Maybe I can combine this with practising the numbers or alphabet with each noun.

Next I will practice without the lesson guidance and my notes. I wrote sentences using the modal verbs by editing old sentences so next I can write my own sentences from scratch. After practising writing I can practice speaking sentences with the modal verbs because I was less good at this in class.

Date: 28/04/18
Yesterday I talked to my friend Zarah who is fluent in German. We discussed how to order in resurarants and shops and she taught me some colloquial phrases. We then had a fake conversation where we mimicked a restaurant, once where I was the customer and again where I was the server. This was really useful and it was great to get some feedback on my vocab and pronoucation. I found making full sentences difficult so today I read through the example that was given in the lab. This helped me a lot.

Date: 01/05/18
Today I went around the house naming the rooms and the furniture with my house mates. They found it rather amusing but it was really great to practice by speaking out loud. I struggled to say 'geschirrspüler' and remember 'esszimmer' so I wrote them on post-it-notes and stuck them in various locations around the house, like the back of the doors. Also I did some revision using the BBC bitesize webpage https://www.bbc.com/education/guides/zqfd7hv/revision/8. Also this week I made an effort to say multiple words in German instead of English. This was really useful and helped me remember vocab from previous weeks. I've also started to form more complex full sentences which is great! I'm really enjoying seeing my improvement.
