Astrology isn't Fake!

this article is about the strong belief behind astrology's powers and abilities, and the fact that its just modern psychology that has made it unrealistic and fake today.

One major red flag that had caught my attention right away was the articles use of the word "ancient" multiple times. This article relied heavily on the basis that astrology was used during ancient times to accurately chart and relate life events from the sky to what was occurring down on earth. The article had stated that it was only the modern use of "mushy" "feel-good" horoscopes that were false, and that they played on our emotions, however during ancient times it was far more accurate. This was a major red flag for me as they were trying to lure the readers in to think that since this has been around for a long period of time that it must be accurate. Another red flag I found was the red herring of the overall article. The article has a lot of ancient dates and places that these "ancient" techniques were used that were generally distracting from the topic at hand without any sort of proof of what was being said.

In this video they are documenting how they are now using a new "scientific" approach at astrology, and adapting new techniques to determine further accuracy of the stars.

In this video Appeal to Authority is evidently used as they speak about the mans quantum physics degree, and the use of another professor to back up the information that is being told. During this interview there was no real evidence to support that science relates back to astrology, they only displayed big words, and confusing matters that apparently correlate back to the truth, and relevance of astrology. using titles such as "quantum" and "algorithms" to draw in their audience that science is truly behind this research. Again they use ancient wisdom, as a way to demonstrate that it has been around for many many years, however greatly lack evidence.

Yearly Horoscope Reading Scorpio

I decided to research my own horoscope for the year by looking up my result on astrology.com

I fully believe that astrology is a pseudoscience because of its lack of evidence, it’s generalized predictions, and it’s sole reliance on confirmation bias. Confirmation bias “ is the tendency to search for, interpret, favour, and recall information in a way that confirms one’s preexisting beliefs or hypotheses.” This astrology reading is a clear example of how certain individuals could reach for examples in their lives that could possibly relate in someway to what is being described. Reading through my astrology forecast, it was evident how easy it was to relate individuals emotionally charged issues to what was being generally described. Astrology certainly plays a huge role in emotional connection as a result.

Why do we still believe in astrology?

In this article the author explains in detail her emotions and own personal experiences with astrology, and why we still believe in something that so clearly is there to manipulate us.

as I read through the article there were numerous red flags that were laid out in her own personal experiences. As she stated she went to an astrologer to receive answers and guidance since her emotional breakup, and all she did was charge her an enormous amount of money in return for a very general "hit" which she no doubt was hoping confirmation bias would confirm. During this article she clearly states how astrology is used to manipulate people, and play off of their emotions, and in one circumstance even convinced a believer to miss out on a record deal since the "stars" had told him not to. This article aligns very clearly with my belief in the falseness that is astrology, and hearing her first hand accounts of the inconsistency just confirms it further.

In this picture, it shows an image of a key with the term "success". what this image means to me is the persuasion and manipulation that astrology can hold over certain individuals.

Red herrings as it relates to astrology in general, is a major red flag when it comes to mind with this image. It shows a number of images and symbols that are essentially irrelevant information which can prove very distracting, and convincing, specially with the symbols of success. Astrology focuses on the mystical energy of the stars and how this magical connection relates back to our lives and how we can predict what is coming. Astrology plays on individuals emotions, and when success is displayed in this image we are unawarely encouraged or swayed to listen, whether there is any real evidence to support its truth or not.

In this image, it demonstrates a lot of confusing images, symbols and words, which somehow achieves a prediction for day to day events.

Astrology as a whole demonstrates an extreme overload of information, which can mislead the reader into believing what is being told. When astrologers use all these symbols and meanings, we as the reader can see that there has been some extensive apparent research done and what is being told must carry some truth as a result. We need to take these images, and these words with a grain of salt, and not just always assume that quantity is much more substantial than quality.

Astrology and our emotional connections

In this image it displays a very clear example of the emotional connection that astrologers use to draw people in, and convince them of the emotional success it can provide them by showing an image of love and astrology.

Modern astrology as it is used today has changed considerably as I do my own research. In ancient times, the stars were used as a matter of survival and adaption, however now as that use in our modern society fades, we look to the stars for emotional assurance. As our needs change astrology must to remain relevant, and that to me is a major red flag. When somethings use is changed so drastically to remain used today, then is there any truth that remains to it? Everyones lives and path are drastically different than another, and we must use caution in relying our lives on a general prediction based off of the month that we were born into.

Astrology can not possibly predict when you will find your husband to a precise date and time, but instead they provide very general and nonspecific information, with hope to get a "hit". although this means of assurance can prove comforting, I strongly believe that we make our own future, and to not let these control you or shape your decisions as a result.

In this video a younger person by the name of Kendall tries to explain or simplify the basics of astrology by reviewing birth charts.

In this video she states that astrology is very "specific" however any reading that I have received, has not been very specific and quite generic/ very open to ones own interpretation. One of the biggest red flags I had observed during this video was her trying to sell her viewers all natural essential oils before she even got started with any sort of explaining. this right away lead me to believe that she was creating this video specifically for her own gain which many astrologers or psychics do. She starts the video off by saying she is going to simplify astrology however, her use of big words like mutilated or fixed, and not explaining what that meant just ended up confusing me. Because she is so young and modern, she can seem very convincing to young adults as to if she believes as should I but none of her examples actually back any sort of truth or real life examples.

In this video I decided to follow Kendall again, and look more specifically at my birth sign and see if there is any truth to what she says or if I can relate.

Again right off the bat Kendall decides to try and sell her fellow viewers a scorpio "t-shirt " since its their birthday". She demonstrates major red flags by trying to sell us on her products to make money. She goes on about how scorpios are very spiritual and religious, where I have never been interested or had a belief in those views. She goes on to explain that scorpios are truth seekers, where in my opinion I believe that in some way aren't we all? she then goes on to contradict herself by saying we lie and then we don't lie. Her overall prediction is much to general, and coming from her previous video which explained such specifics it has left me less than impressed. Overall I believe she is there to gain money and fame and not here to teach us any sort of value or potential gain in life.
