Stage 1 Basic Trust Vs. Mistrust

Erik Erikson 1 stage basic trust vs. mistrust is at the infancy stage age 1-2. During this stage the key to the development is the mother. In this stage if the baby can learn to trust then it can trust other people later in life but if the baby grows up with using fear, then they develop with doubt and mistrust.

In this timeline I will be analyzing myself. In the first stage the baby is using its mother for their development. As a baby my mother was very important to me and in helping me in my growth. With her helping me in my development and giving me that senses of trust to have in people I was able to start trusting other people and in later in life I was able to trust people then as well. Now I have more insight on the 1st stage like if we use fear then we will have mistrust in people in life but if we use happiness, we will use trust in the future. In our Textbook "The Child" by Gabriela Martorell, it states " Attachment to parents and other forms."

Stage 2 Autonomy VS. Shame & Doubt

Erik Erikson 2nd stage of development is Autonomy Vs. Shame & Doubt. This stage is in the early childhood ages 2 to 4 years old. In this stage the child will start to experience themselves and discover their bodies. If the child discovers themselves then they can develop self-confidence but if the child doesn't discover their bodies, then they develop shame as well self-doubt. In this stage both parents play a major role in the child's development.

In this timeline I will be analyzing myself. In this stage of life discovering yourself is important. As a child my family let me discover myself and letting me figure out who I am as well as discovering my body. with my family letting me be able to figure out who I am as well as discovering my body I was able to discover self-confidence. But if my family didn't let me discover who I am or let me discover my body I would have had Shame in myself as well as self-doubt. Now that I have more information about the 2nd stage like that if we are able to discover ourselves then we discover self-confidence but if we don't discover ourselves then we develop shame as well as self-doubt. In our textbook "The Child" by Gabriela Martorell, it states "Self-concept and emotional understanding become more complex; self-esteem is global".

Stage 3 Initiative VS. Guilt

Erik Erikson 3rd stage Initiative VS. Guilt. This stage is at the Preschool age 4-5 years old. During this stage the child is starting to learn from the whole family. In this stage it takes initiative as well as try new things and learn basic principles. The child starts to ask, " Is it okay for me to do what I do?" If the child is encouraged, then they will follow their own interest in life. If the child is held back or told that what the child dose is silly, then the child can develop guilt.

In this timeline I will be analyzing myself. In the 3rd stage the child is using the family for their development. As a child my family would always encourage me to play sports as I was going up and would come to all of my games to cheer me on. With this support from my family encourage me but if they thought it was silly or hold me back from playing sports then I would feel a lot of guilt and not want to do anything that makes me happy. Now that I have more insight on the 3rd stage like if our families support us or encourage us to do what we want to do then we are happy and believe in ourselves but if we get held back by our families or get told what we do is silly then we feel guilt. In our textbook "The Child" by Gabriela Martorell, it states, " Independence, initiative and self-control increase." Another statement is " family is still primary but other children become more important."

Erik Erikson 4th stage Industry VS. Inferiority. This stage is at the school age 5-12 years old. During this stage our neighbors as well as schools now influence the child the most now. During this stage the child starts to discover their own interests and realize that they are different from others. The child starts to ask, "if we can make it in this world?" If the child receive recognition from their teachers or peers, they'll become industrious or hardworking. Unfortunately, if the child receives to much negative feedback the child starts to feel inferior and lose motivation.

In this timeline I will be analyzing myself. In the 4th stage the student is using their teachers as well as peers. As a school age I was always asking my teachers questions on how to do my homework. During this stage my friend were an important part of my life because they were helping me shape who I was as well as what kind of friend I would be during my life. Now I have more insights on the 4th stage I notice that if we are showed recognition from our teachers, we work harder but if we don't get shown recognition then we lose motivation. In our textbook "The Child" by Gabriela Martorell, it states "Cognitive gains permit children to benefit from formal schooling. Some children have special educational needs."

Stage 5 Identity VS. Role Confusion

Erik Erikson 5th stage Identity vs. Role Confusion. This stage is at Adolescence stage ages 13 to 19 years old. During this stage, the key to our development is our peers and role models to learn from. The child starts to have different social roles. the child starts to have friends. Many children experience an identity crisis. If the child's parents allow us to go out and explore then the child can find ourselves. If the child's parents push us to conform to their views, we can face role confusion and feel lost.

In this timeline I will be analyzing myself.es. In the 5th stage our parents need to let us discover ourselves. A teenager my parents stepped back in my life to let discover myself and let me find out who I am. With them stepping back I was able to figure out who I am as well as who I am going to be in my future. If my parents didn't step back and let me discover myself then I would not be happy as well as have role confusion. Now that I have more insight on the 5th stage, I know that if a child's parent steps back and let the child discover who they are then the child can find their identity but if the parents don't step back then the child will have to face role confusion or feel lost. In our textbook "The Child" by Gabriela Martorell, it states, " Search for Identity becomes central." as well as from our textbook, " Relationships with parents are generally good."
