I didn't exactly have a situation that involved a conversation or question started by myself in which I sought clarification, but I did have a moment in which I received helpful tips from the instructor that assisted me in making my building blocks in Activity 7 more clear. My point in the Level 4 DOK block did not allign with the standard, thus requiring me to change the language.

I had a lot of trouble coming up with an activity for the students to complete in order for them to successfully learn about point of view, perspective, and cultural experience. While long-term subbing a 9th grade ELA class, I noticed students excelled when completing activities in a group. So I decided the best approach was to allow students to separate in groups. This would give students the authority they would need in order to investigate the text given while also assisting them in their understanding.

I think I'll have it rather easy given the flexibility an ELA class will afford me, as group work is excellent for students to investigate literature and its literary elements. This will also allow my classroom to hone a student-centered learning environment.

I don't have a good example of a conversation/question for this topic, but I did receive, once again, great advice from my instructor regarding the Instruction portion of my Lesson Plan for Project 2. The activity I chose for the class wasn't exactly game-based. But my instructor suggested I use a Quiziz instead. I later incorporated this into the Lesson Plan and even used a Quiziz in my Mini-Teach video for my students to complete. The approach worked well, as my students were leading a competition amongst themselves and felt engaged in the process.

I had some trouble tying to figure out how my Lesson Plan and the standard I chose would fit in the overall sequence of lessons to come weeks AFTER the lesson was given. State standards are provided, yes, but not necessarily in any order to be followed. From my experience as a long-term sub of an ELA classroom, I recalled how a lot of these elements were taught to students in order to introduce them to reading and analyzing a novel. This gave me the idea that this lesson would supplement the students' understanding of what they should be looking for and investigating within a novel whilst reading.

This knowledge gained from delivering equitable and diverse instruction approaches will help me to improve on my flexibility as a teacher. One thing I've noticed when working with other teachers (especially in ELA) is that it requires a lot of quick scaffolding to ensure that students are learning all of the elements required in order for them to be prepared and reinforced for upcoming units. It has also helped me to understand the importance of being prepared and to not prolong any planning that could be done a week or so ahead of time. Many of the departments I've sit in with have weekly meetings in which they sit with other teachers of the department and same grade level so that they can converse about strategies and approaches.
