La llorona is also known as the weeping woman in Spanish. She is a part of the the hispanic culture in the Southwest and Mexico. She is a woman dressed in white with a veil covering her face and sometimes carries a knife or dagger. She is often found near lakes and rivers and sometimes crossroads. Children are warned not to go out during the night or else La llorona would kidnap them and throw them into the waters.
