Maya helps her family and she participates in group activities, such as gymnastics. The Outsiders is about a greaser named Ponyboy that runs away with another greaser named Johnny after Johnny kills a Soc. The greasers and the Socs never seem to agree on anything and they always get into fights with each other. Another way that "My Favorite Chaperone" and The Outsiders are alike is about their family. Maya in "My Favorite Chaperone" has parents that care about her and she helps her family when they need help. In The Outsiders, parents are never mentioned. One of the main differences is the fact that Maya is coming from a very different lifestyle then " Te Outsiders. Maya  her sory is talking about her adapting to her new life in America and facing new problems for her and her family. She also is trying to manage a difficult life of taking her moms job,taking a break from gymnastics and trying to show her parents that it is different in America. "The Outsiders" is about a boy named Ponyboy taking you through his life as a Greaser he's showing us his friends and how he dosn't fit in, and he's also showing us the difference between him and the other charecters. The similarity between the two books are  the fact that Maya and Ponyboy are different from their friends and family. Ponyboy loves movies and nobody else dose, he also gives us physical differnces from the other charecters in the book. The two story;s are similar because in the story My Favorite Chaperone mayas dad is really strict and very overprotective and dosent really listen to what maya has to say.
