Plot: The rabbit is boasting about how he could beat anyone in a race. The tortoise challenges the rabbit to a race saying he'll win. The rabbit takes a break and the tortoise beats him.

This story is about a boy who finds a bear in the woods and makes him his pet. His bear turns out to be very hungry, and reeks havoc on the neighbor's food supplies. As a result, the boy's father asks him to take the bear back to the woods, but the bear keeps returning home. In the end, the bear is able to find a new home at the zoo.

The message of this story is that love can come when you least expect it and from unlikely places. The boy, an avid hunter, had a life dream of shooting a bear, but ended up befriending one. He found a best friend who was loyal to him until the end.

Olivia: I agree that the theme of "Are You My Mother?" is finding a place to belong. Everyone has a basic need for love and family.

Sarah: You are right about the theme of your story being manners. It is funny how they twist the story of the Three Little Pigs to show that the wolf was really a good guy just using his manners!! Too funny!

Plot: This little engine had to go up a hill to take toys to some kids. He was a little engine and was not sure he could do it but as he tried he kept telling himself " I think I can, I think I can". As he was succeeding he kept saying "I knew I could, I knew I could".

Theme: You never know unless you try. It is all up to you and what you tell yourself. If you think you can then go for it because you can do it! 

Sometimes when I am trying to go an extra .25 of a mile or an extra 10 min on my treadmill I tell myself " I think I can..." and it really helps me achieve my goal.

THEME-The Fox and the crow is trying to show you to never let anyone complements get to you. They can be fake and they are just using you. To now if someone is giving you a compliment or not. PLOT- The crow gets a piece of cheese and go's to eat it on a tree. But a Fox comes and thinks of a sneaky way to take her cheese. So he comes with the idea to tell er that she is pretty and should sing for him. So she opens her mouth and forgets the cheese was in. The cheese fell and the fox took it laughing at the crow.

Plot: is the story about a hatchling bird. His mother, thinking her egg will stay in her nest where she left it leaves her egg alone and flies off to find food. The baby bird hatches. He does not understand where his mother is so he goes to look for her. Because he cant fly, he walks and in his search, he finds a kitten, a hen, a dog, and a cow and ask if they are his mother. They each say "No". But at the end the baby bird is picked up by a crane and is coincedentley dropped back into his nest where he finds his mother.

The moral of Are you my mother? is to show you the importamce of family. He didnt know his mom was really just getting him food, so he searched for his mom.

Miles: What else happens in the fox and teh crow?

The theme of this story is to not to be rude to others if they ask you for something you should always be nice and give them some. This story also means that you should not be mean to a wolf because it would end pretty good.

Olivia: I agree with your moral because usually some people don't how important their family is to them.

Mrs.Whitley: I agree with you because I think you shouldn't always depend on a bear to be your friend.

Theme----The main theme of the story is to not lie to and decieve people (especially multiple times). Because there may be a time in which you are struggling and will actually need assistance, while those people who you tricked and fooled will likely not want to help you because they think you're just wasting they're time and effort. The second theme would be "nobody believes a liar... even when he's telling the truth.

Mrs. Whitley, I agree it doesnt matter what is on the outside, its what is valubale on the inside.

This story is about an egg that was misplaced in a nest of baby ducklings. This odd looking "duckling" was rejected by its family and felt sad, rejected, and isolated. The ugly duckling tried to fit in in various settings and families without luck. Eventually, the ugly duckling learned that he was a swan, and instead of being a misfit, he found a place he could belong and be himself.

There are many possible themes to this story. The theme that I'm going to pick is self-worth. We shouldn't get our value by who we are on the outside, but who we are on the inside. We shouldn't judge others. It turns out that the "ugly duckling" turned into the most magnificent, beautiful adult bird of them all.
