Module #9 gave me a broader perspective into the affairs America and other nations were involved in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War both crucial events that have happened in Asian history and how the affects of these war are still lingering into todays modern times. Also how government officials were involved during these wars and how there actions essentially shaped how the war went. One discussion question that is important is How the US involvement in the Korean and Vietnamese War affect the broader political landscape of Asia? Well for starters America and Russia are both countries of different political views and well China being its second adopter of this view it spread it views to the neighboring Asian countries like Vietnam and North Korea and to battle against this America helped out in Wars to prevent these views and spread more of a democratic view leading up to both wars happening. What impact did American actions have on the relationship between Asian countries? Well in Vietnam America essentially lost the war leading into it becoming a communist state while in Korea they didn't fully win the war but set up the boarder between the South and North called the 38th parallel having North Korea adopt communist views while the South adopting a democratic view. While viewing the documentaries of both of the wars major conflicts occurred do to political view of both sides The Vietnam War had many events and conflicts that led up to the president of the United states Lydon B Johnson at the time due to conflicts over naval battles. Americans then trained Southern Vietnamese to battle against the north side of Vietnam, Then once the war had started Johnson deployed 320,000 American solders into the battle field But the Vietnamese used many unfamiliar tactics against the American troupes setting traps and spikes around the jungle which was already pretty difficult to navigate around. Essentially the war was the longest war America has ever faced in History and in total a estimate of 6,400 American soldiers were killed in action. After Johnson stepped down as President Richard Nixon then took over wanting to expand the war to make the war end quicker, In the process America was not only fighting a war it was fighting 2. Many people were against the war especially many young folks who protested in colleges like Ohio state and Illinois they wanted to promote peace not violence and they wanted soldiers to be sent back, The protest would then erupt into violence were 2 students were killed due to police brutality. In the end America finally decided to leave Vietnam leaving the South to fend for themselves it wouldn't be long till they took over the South. This was the first ever war recorded in history were the United states lost a war. During World War 2 Japan was actually in control of Korea after fighting with them for years and once Japan joined forces with the Soviet Union they enlisted Korean soldiers to join the fight whether they liked it or not. But Once Japan was defeated in the War Korea was made dependent again leading up to America and Russia helping out on opposite sides. Then after a couple of tense years the north finally decided to invade and so they took over the capital Seoul leaving South Koreans cornered that's when the United States stepped in sending troops and pushed back the enemy, during the time Stalin died in 1953 and his successors decided to write a treaty called big switch were the division of the 38th parallel was established. At the end of the war it was recorded that an estimate 1 million Koreans died out of 40 million population and both south and north made up of 4 million while 2 million people were left homeless due to the constant use of napalm it made North Korea a wasteland. These are all shocking number of many people who were civilians and soldiers some fighting for their country or for others beliefs this in total was a catastrophe in the end after the war had ended America gave 70 billion dollars to be used in making South Korea dependent. All these things that happened were just truly terrible for the people who were in between the war many people also being killed not being able to see their families or what the future could have held for them. I feel like these wars were just an excuse for an arms race between Russia and America wanting to develop more lethal weapons to achieve victory by any means possible which is disturbing.

module #10 talks on the rising political tensions between Russia and America Were both countries had a drastic arms race leading up to the cold war. But After the war was over political friendships weren't the same between China and the US with China being big allies to Russia but this didn't completely change any trades between both countries still importing manufactured goods to one another. Some pretty important questions relative to this module are how is Hong Kong become a focal point in the broader geopolitical tensions between the US and China? One thing I know of the top of my head is the riots going around Hong Kong were many elders are believing that western media or anything western related have brainwashed the youth of Hong Kong and it adds more tension were places of western culture are keeping them in asylum. What are the implications for Hong Kong's future and its relationships with both powers? As of now Hong Kong has a bit of a free ledger having access to internet and the government does not control its citizens as oppose to China. In the text book it talks about the geopolitical competition between China and US with corporate rivalries which led to disputes over trade. Another Point the module video focuses upon are the horrific action the Chinese police have mislead and abused their power for instance the fil "city of fear" shows the after math of the battles the police have had with protests At the beginning people were having peaceful protest but soon erupted into Chaos the film shows many citizens being jumped and hurt seeing their faces with blood. Since they couldn't fight the police physically many have taken it to speaking verbally ill of the Chinese government and the police saying they wanted independence. These words would essentially lead people into being sent into prison or even killed or exiled. This saddens the amount of people being silenced for the things that they are believing in. People take for granted what the US system has offered them a freedom of speech sure its not perfect but I'm happy with it.

Module #11 The key theme I learned was the understanding of the US and Chinas relationships and their influences with one another. And the silenced war that came upon China leaving many individuals and citizens silent upon the topic being ever brought up. In the reading I learned about "the belt and road initiative" In which China launched BRE this allowed new markets and goods, but also opened up influence from the west This kind of clashed with the opposed views of the Chinese. Which kind of correlates to citizens of China wanting to get more Democracy for the people. This also correlates to the secret war I was talking about the "Tiananmen square massacre" Aka the street of "Eternal Peace" were many young folks and professors participated in the revolt of China and fought back the agenda pushed on them. The reason why these things happened Correlates to the way Xi Jinping was raised in childhood seeing many people killed because of the communist regime and even his own father, Him being sent to a farm then lead him to a realization of having to climb up the communist power. He grew up learning and appreciating the communists ways and Once he led up to presidency he made it possible to be in that position eternally. How are global alliances shifting due to the tensions between the US, China, & Russia? This global alliance are shifting as tensions grow between the countries, China seeks to influence its ideologies, while the US wishes to strengthen its alliances. What are other countries and regions are playing in this New Cold War? From what I've seen they are sending supporting troops to attack Ukraine while other are sending weapons and materials.

Film: Fear In The City

Watching the documentary I saw the struggle between the people and the police officer fighting against one another. It Showed to me the struggle people are going through just for a sense of freedom and a voice to be heard. People are thrown into Prisons or even beaten to death which was a recurring thing happening in the film which had me pretty disturbed. This taught me how grateful I am to be born in a democratic country but the people at Hong Kong are still fighting till this day to bring back what Hong Kong once was. Even though China is going to have Hong Kong in a distant future I still think its pretty messed up to push on the ideas of oppression and 24/7 surveillance and monitoring of the people.

President of South Korea yoon suk yeol has declared a martial law to be put into place on South Korea this lead to an uproar on the citizens protesting against this. Hi reasoning are to protect the free republic of Korea from the threat of communist forces that was imposed by North Korea This would later receive backlash and the impeachment of the president. This related to the topic of module #3 and #1 for number one it shows the lingering tensions that the south and north have faced over the years and they are putting trust into 2 political views to see which is the best and more successful. And in Module #3 during a peaceful time the government imposed martial law which received similar backlash to that of Korea but this would essentially turn into a bloody disaster.
