I'm not sure if informational interviews are useful.

- Am I being too picky? Why do so many jobs seem boring or uninteresting?
- How do I decide whether a particular field is important for a career vs. volunteer or non-career work?

So far I've achieved:
I have identified some jobs that I am interested in and have had informational interviews at those places. I have three applications I am currently working on, but none that I have sent off--the deadlines are looming. I have begun the process of taking informational interviews for work in personal offices in the legislature, which is my tier B option. I have identified at least 4 offices that may be hiring soon and would be places I that would be fine if not ideal to work in.
Questions/Concerns.
(1) it takes so much time to apply for jobs!
(2)  I am constantly stressed that the jobs I am interested in will not actually be a good fit for me, that I am not as interested in the material or that the work culture isn't what I want.
(3) My dream job looks like a policy consultant--but I worry that this is because I am in a personal office?

I hope to get from this group

(1) Personal offices :  wrapped up/ now paused on info interviews as people scramble near the end of session.

(3) helped write materials that will hopefully! help my office create a position for me.
(4) applied for state job. (omg why are the exams SO TEDIOUS)
(5) took the exam for a state job and found out I wasn't qualified-- plugged into the HR network which is helping me look for other related jobs (THEY ARE SO NICE!!!)
(5) no thats really it.

GOALS next 2weeks
1) find key person and setup info interview in OPR
2) Follow up with Niu on PPIC position to have her recommendation on the application 
3) Apply for OPR and PPIC positions
4) After session, setup info interviews in personal offices. At a minimum: 
(a) Weiner
(b) Gipson
(c) Skinner

5) AAAS application start 
6) Keep looking for job postings in CRB, LAO, PPIC, DOF etc.

Here's what I did accomplish: 

-Reached out to person in SGC, scheduled an info interview, pushed it back to next week.
-Wrote a CL and resume for the SGC job (application due Monday). 
-Met with 2 people from PPIC and decided not to apply for the position 
-Have a coffee scheduled with COS in Weiner's office. Still need to reach out to other offices (Skinner/Gipson/etc.)
-Starting to prep for interview (Tuesday) in Reyes' office.
