Not because I didn't think it was necessary, but because I have been teaching for so long without tech that I was unsure of how to adjust my own way of thinking. But as the weeks passed, learned about and experimented with many new technology tools and had many ideas for incorporating them into my every day lessons.  I tried to embrace each new tool and felt I did a pretty good job using them in my classroom. However, I always feel I should be doing more and that is work-in-progress. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I want technology to be an asset to my lessons and not just an add-on.  This is the tricky part for me, but if I can find ways to have my students learn without them realizing they are learning, we all win!  I need to recognize that not every lesson will need technology, and a mix of teacher instruction along with small group interaction still works very well.  Balance is the key.  But I do know technology can engage students in a way that takes them farther than textbooks and chalkboards ever did.  Times are changing and this class has made me realize that I can change as well and it is not as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be!]]> 2019-04-07 17:51:08 UTC https://padlet.com/kathleen_dellavecchia/6vl2a5ayq5n1/wish/349275737 kathleen_dellavecchia https://padlet.com/kathleen_dellavecchia/6vl2a5ayq5n1/wish/349276707 I realize it will take more than a few months to change my patterns and to be able to easily and automatically add tech to my lessons, but I hope to get there.  This class has encouraged me venture out of my comfort zone, to try new tools (as evidenced by this reflection presentation) and to start to change my mindset and for all that I am grateful.  I will continue to dip into and experiment with tools and apps that will enhance my classroom because I came into teaching to educate children, and in today's world, enhanced lessons and advanced teaching techniques are best for my students.
