Adnan was angry because he stayed in touch with Hae during her and Don's relationship. He felt as if she was leading him on and he did not like that. Even though, Adnan was heart broken it was very clear that his pride and dignity were destroyed. He took the opportunity to give his belongs to Jay and ride with Hae after school that day. During that 21 minutes he had strangled Hae Min Lee successfully carried out the mission he had been planning for months. Adnan's mother would listen to his phone calls with other girls and bust him for his wrong doing. The night of homecoming, word of mouth traveled t his parents that Adnan took Hae Min Lee to the dance. Causing a huge scene, the parents yelled at Adnan and forced him to leave the homecoming dance. On her birthday Adnan let Jay borrow his car so that he can buy Stephanie a birthday present. Adnan also got Stephanie a birthday present which made Jay jealous. Stephanie and Adnan were homecoming queen and king. Jay was not happy. Jay didn't like how close Adnan and Stephanie were so we think he decided to kill Hae and frame Adnan. During his interviews none of his stories match. He had had 3 different stories and they are all different.
