There were few opportunities to learn and talk with groups in China, so it's interesting for me to have a discussion in a group in class. Everyone in groups could share himself/herself with others, and we need not to be afraid of making mistakes because when somebody makes a mistake, others will correct him/her patiently instead of laughing at him/her. That sounds great, isn't it?
In addition, I will interview an American this afternoon to finish my homework. To be honest, I'm a little nervous because I hardly chat with people from other countries and my listening and speaking English both are not good. I don't know how to communicate with others in English. Maybe it's a challenge for me to finish it but I also think it's a chance to improve myself.

What are of some the main causes for water contamination and how to deal with water contamination and so on. There are what we dicussed at the class. We have a panel discussion, and because of this, we not only exercise our spoken English, we also come to a practical conclusion. For example: develop agricultural techonology, desalination and so on to clean water.
Besides of that, we also learned new words and new syntactical structure.
new words: deplet, commodity , irrigation, scarcity, peers and so on
new structure: the solution is to...
we might try to...
one way to start to solve this problem is to...
the problem will not be solved immediately, but we could...
......

After the class of discussing the water resource I have improved my awareness of protecting water. Actually before the class I have never thought about the issues related to water, because I am not the one lack of water, but today I know if we don’t attach great
attention to the issue, we or our offerings may become out of water someday in the future, because water is a finite resource and it has no substitute!
I think the most useful thing we can do now as a college student is to try our best to save water in our daily life. For example we can turn off the tap when we don’t need it. What is more, we can also tell others around us to raise the awareness of saving water.

Another problem is the waste from common residents, the most efficient way to solve this issue is to awake people’s awareness of water protecting, maybe we can organize some lectures in the community to ask citizens to protect water.

Adding today, we almost talk about Water and water issues for two days. Previously, I knew water plays a very important part in our daily life but I just don’t think highly of issues(like water contamination, shortage, low efficiency use) it have. Therefore, in John’s class I realized it is really high time that we should do something. We, young people should feel the responsibility for water use.

Like water issues, in our everyday life, there are many serious problems. They are hard to solve, hard to confront. They threaten us, scare us.Are we going to do nothing but wait for things to getting worse?NO! The world's most intelligent animals are human beings. It is never too late if we just take actions right now.

Frances'Journal
The main question in this lesson is the issue of water resources. Water is important to many things. Almost all of life on Earth can not be separated from water. The human’s agricultural production, industrial production, daily life, transportation, recreation and even energy development are all can't leave the water.
However, water is finite, and the problem of water shortage and water pollution in modern world is very serious. If there were 100 people on the world, then 13 people would have no clean, safe water to drink. Human pollution and water waste are important reasons for this phenomenon. But the shortage of water is not only for human reasons, but also for natural environment and weather. In the vast regions of northern Africa and western Asia, water resources are scarce because of geographical issues. A shortage of water would limit the country's development greatly, just as State of Qatar 60 years ago.
We discussed methods to solve these problems. For example, we can obtain freshwater resources by desalinating seawater and melting snow and ice. We can reduce the use of water in agriculture by improving agricultural irrigation technologies. We also can purify water with microorganisms. Meanwhile, besides technical methods, we should improve the protection of water resources through legislation and regulation. The government also should introduce policies to protective water. Of course, educating people to raise people's environmental awareness is also an important method.
If we hope the idea of a war between people for water scramble will not come true. If we want to get sustainable development. We must change the human's lifestyle.

Group1
When it comes to water nowadays, we think about the critical global concern of water. So what can we do to solve this serious problem? Our group propose three solutions to deal with water depletions in some countries.

First of all, We should try to collect the water. take Karez for example. In Chinese ancient time, people living around the Xinjiang desert area because of the scarcity of water resources, in order to have a clean water storage, they created Karez, also known as canal, which built in various regions of the world, this is a kind of special irrigation system in desert area. Every year when the snow melted into the ground, people found the water at certain intervals after construction of many wells, and then according to the terrain height building through tunnel passage, can lead to water for irrigation, which eased people's demand for water in desert area.

Secondly, We can transport water from well-watered areas to water shortage areas. Take the south-to-north water project as an example. China for many years has been considering a south-to-north water project to move water from areas in the South which suffer from over-supply to large, thirsty, drought northern cities such as Beijing and Tianjin. Three routes are under consideration. Construction of the water diversion project will bring a huge improvement on the North’s economy, environment and social environment, economy and promote sustained development and stability of the national economy and society.

Thirdly, Water covers more than two-fifths of the Earth's surface. More than 97% of the Earth's water is in its oceans and fresh water represents less than 0.5% of the total water on Earth.
So we can turn seawater into fresh water by means of technology. Take Duha for example, the government of Duha encourage and give supports to technology development. Their country has advanced desalination technology. And because of that, they can use plenty of water even though their country is where with less rainfall. The process of desalination is complicated, but once we take steps to do it we’ll have less trouble in the future.

Here are my resources.
Karez: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYFKghvpBkY
south-to-north water project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlYjgf6SZOU
Process about seawater desalination: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xcGmv25rxM
Some other countries where use desalination technology: http://www.edsoc.com/

The first topic, water, I know, a large amount of people don't have access to clean water. At my living area, I don't lack of water. People usually don't cherish what they have until the moment they lost it. I saw a lot of people waste water seriously, especially at the public places. Because they don't need to pay for it. The same condition like electricity, water, paper, and so on. I just don't understand how could they do that? Does the reason is they don't have the awareness of saving water? I don't think so. We have been educated to save water since elementary school. Maybe they just don't want to practice it. So I think one of the possible solution is to let people improve their ability to control themselves and cultivate their moral character.

Same as the water problem, food waste is quiet horrible in China. Some people used to order many dishes at restaurants, though they can't eat out of them, then just leave. Meanwhile, it is also a way of wasting money. The waste of food is extreme on the dining-table. But recent years, this situation get better due to the policy of the president Xi Jin ping. But the amount of food being waste is still makes me feel worried. I feel pity for people who are starving. I hope one day everyone can be rational toward resource.

Though I knew there're places lack of food, I'd never thought about what can I do to solve the problem.
On our paper, there has a question asked for how much money we spend on food for a month. Most of us gave a large number of money. It seems we have various kind of foods can choose and eat. But for the places that even don't have enough foods to feed themselves, I think we are a little extravagance.
We can feed ourselves and we have good education and that's our responsbility to give our help. And until today, I started thinking about the solutions for food problems. We need the policy, we need invest in infrastructure,we need technologies. And what surprise me is that nowdays technology, we may can made meat and feather! And after all, I think the most important thing is that we need more people aware of this problem.

To promise the quality of food, I believe that the government should take their responsibility. The first is legislation. They should establish an honest system and perfect legal regulation. It must be strict to produce food. The related department should check the food security frequently. When find some problem, punish them in different level according to their faults'condition. If the behavior is too horrible, quit their right to makes business about food. And when people meet food trouble, the government should provide them sufficient ways to protect them and deal with it in time and efficient.
Before eating food, we should clean it carefully. After some short group discussion about personal food question, we found some different vision about starvation, like nature disaster and pollution.

Then we watched a short video which showed a lot about starvation. I learnt that food lacking is more serious than I thought. The land is decreasing and the population is increasing. A lot of areas in the world, just like sub-Sahara Africa, it is really unfair, they still cannot be self-sufficient with food. Besides, it’s also a challenge to make sure the food is safe. So, many people die because of the food safety problem. More and more people move into the city cause farm decrease a lot. It’s necessary to find solution to face this terrible situation. In brief, investment technology and policy will play a role, it is not easy to be change.

At last, our group found a video about food safety. It is about rice problem in some countries. First of all, there should have policy to protect the safety, and those who make dangerous food must be punished.

group1
Food safety is a big problem, and our group will discuss it in four parts. They are food sources, food processing, food making process and habits. In every aspect, we have come up with specific measures to reduce food contamination and ensure food safety.

The first problem about food safety is the source. Where does the food material come from? Are they safe? The material is the first step, if it is unsafe at the first, not to mention the next steps. But sad to say, most food we used today is under industrial production. Take chicken production for an example, we all know there's many fast food restaurant in the world now, and most they provide hamburgers or hotdogs. And of course these restaurants need lots of chicken. Few days ago, KFC has been caught using chicken that only needs fourty-five days to grow up. The news shocked all of us. Here's a video talk about the safety of the chicken. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe5CTjtAW70

We also use pesticides, fertilizers and so much chemical products when growing vegetables. And I suppose that it is certainly unsafe for us eating such food. It's reasonable that people use these way to producting foods. There are too many people in the world. We need to eat and for the business, they need to make profits. So in solving the problem, I think there're lots of thing that depend on the government to do. We need standards to ensure how much chemical products are able to use. We need to enact the law to punish the one who use too much chemical products for money. Otherwise, maybe we can give hope on technology development to create a way that can product safe and healthy food in large output.

Secondly, there are also a lot of problems in food processing, like using poor quality raw materials in the food manufacturing process, adding toxic substances, excessive use of food additives, abusing of chemical additives and so on. American likes to eat raw food which may lead to headache and diarrhea. We think it’s not safe. Some food processing industry will add harmful additives to the food in China which cause lots of food safety problems.

There are a lot of causes for this problem, we think government should step up regulation, promise every step in the food production is safe and food processing industries should also take responsibility for the safety of food. https://www.bilibili.com/video/av8732756/?from=search&seid=13353871457309099381

And the third, food safety may be a problem in food making process. Take the production of Japanese sashimi for example. As we all know, Japanese sashimi are made of raw fish. However, eating raw fish and meat often cause disease.

Here is a news about the harm caused by eating raw fish

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4603614/Girl-8ft-6in-long-tapeworm-eating-sashimi.html

And here is an essay talked about the danger of eating raw fish http://www.nytimes.com/1981/09/30/garden/eating-raw-fish-the-dangers.html

Also, it is a vidio about eating raw fish when the fish is still alive

http://m.iqiyi.com/w_19rtn8hfhx.html

Therefore, maybe raw fish or meat are not good choices for people who want to live a healthy life. Eventhough they taste good, they have the risk of carring germs to which we should pay attention.

The last but not least, when it comes to food safety, most people will firstly think about factory processing and restaurant making the food aspects. In fact, maintaining good eating practice and habits is also the focus of food safety.

For example, before meals, washing hands, rinsing mouthpieces frequently, using fox or chopsticks and other clean tablewares at meals, rather than your hands like India, though it's their custom, it looks really bad for personal hygiene.

Video shows how to improve healthy eating habits, avoid eating and drinking too much, do not eat breakfast, and pay attention to the balance of nutrition to ensure our daily life.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSWPgFkUUeU

In a word, we should improve the awareness of food safety, when shopping and dining should pay attention to the description of the food and developing good habits, it is important to adhere to.

Frances'Journal
The reasons for the shortage of food are complex. There are many causes of food problems, such as war, backward agricultural technologies, overpopulation and natural disasters. Our group considered natural disasters as the main reasom of the decline in food output.

If we want to deal with the food issue, in addition to technical solutions, such as improving food production, we also need policy measures. For example, there must be a government that can deal with food issues in a timely and effective manner.
Food problems not only have shortages, but also quality problems. In response to the issue of food quality， firstly, the government should introduce laws and relevant government agencies must punish illegal activities strictly. Secondly, we must clarify the source of the food through the improvement of the technology to ensure that the responsibility can be implemented effectively. In addition, paying attention to the regulation of enterprises and illegal punishments is important.

To be honest, maybe this topic is indeed a little boring, but there is no doubt that it is significant. We talked about the transportation, traffic, carbon emission and so on in groups. To solve these problems, we need to develop urban greening and public transportation. Also we can use cleaning energy more.
After lunch, we had an independent study in groups. We watched the video together and shared own ideas with others.

In America, the instance from workplace to home spend too much money on the daily consumption. And the high speed driving causes a lot of car crashes.
Focus on the transportation problem, our group discussed about the solution. We thought government should take more responsibility for the situation. And people should change their mind to choose walk or bike to go out instead of driving a car.

It always have traffic congestions during rush hours. The crowd gathered cause all cars almost impossible to move. Maybe this kinds of organizations provide shuttle buses. They can survey and plan several bus lines which will reduce the number of vehicles effectively and benefit a lot to this problem.

Finally，finding alternative route and make vehide shunting is an important method，too.

With the development of technology, more cars have been swarming into our lives, traffic problem happens as a result. And provide us much convenience and save a lot of time. But just as what the TED video said, it may will be better if we perfect the pedestrian system, to establish more walkable communities. Because every coin has two sides, with the development of transportation, there comes the problem, like the traffic jam, wasting energy both people and resource, and the traffic accidence, many people died for it, and the air pollution absolutely. This issue is very serious in China. People have to wear their guaze mask when going outside. We should think things more broadly, so it is time to change.

As for class, we talked about transportation.

Honestly, I know very little about transportation, neither all around the world nor in China. Because of the location, I hardly go outside when I was in Hebei University. Every day I walk or ride bicycle from the dormitory to the teaching building. When I was at home things are similar. So I listened attentively to my teacher and classmates and at the same time took notes. I learned and searched a lot today. I found OfoBicycle in China could be an example of reducing traffic emission and traffic jam. And I was proud that in China I always use it to go shopping and go for a class. So maybe I have also contributed to easing traffic problems, right? ^_^

Nowadays, with the population around the world increasing year by year, the number of vehicle are increasing at the same time. It causes transportation problem. Therefore, our group decided to choose one of the serious transportation problem, traffic congestion as a key issue and made suggestions to solve the problem.

In order to solve this critical global concern, we divided the suggestions into three parts, what can auto industry, government, and humanbeings do to easing the traffic congestion.

Firstly, the most direct way to solve traffic congestion is to reduce car travel, which is not a good news for the auto industry.

For the auto industry, we can't prevent it from selling vehicles such as cars to make a profit, but other new industry will replace cars by carrying out a new, environmentally friendly and convenient way of transportation. For example Bike-sharing is booming in China. Simply use your smartphone to scan the QR code on a shared bike to unlock it then you can ride it anywhere. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1eZG8-zntEYIt means that a new industry is rising people have more choices to choose for traveling which indicates the car is not necessary and this is undoubtedly an impact on the traditional auto industry.
And we believe there will be more new tools or ways in the near future. So the traditional automobile industry, just a simple car sales has been unable to meet the needs, perhaps with some taxi companies or the drivers open car rental services will be more affected by the public.

As what we saw in the TED this morning, unreasonably urban plan makes the traffic more difficult. People want to live close to the nature and reduce the pollution, so they move away from the centre city and build their house in village. But the long distance between the workplace and home means people need to drive back and forth. And it costs time, money and energy. And accroding to the survey，people who live centralized in the big city like New York City seem to drive less than people who live in the village. And that means the traffic in the big cities are better than the village.

The urban plan is important to the city's transportation. So secondly, the government need to change their mind when planning the road and the buildings. The surpermarket and the grocery should close to the community,so that people can walk to them and less use cars. For the long distance drive, the road should be directly and convient.

Here is a video shows how unreasonably road constructions influent the transportation.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8933hk1ogpo

When government try to solve really complex social problems, the right thing to do is most of the time to create the incentives. government don't plan the details, and people will figure out what to do, how to adapt to this new framework.

The government can implement two programmes. One is charging congestion fee. Someone came up with the idea that, apart from good public transport, apart from spending money on roads, let's try to charge drivers one or two euros at these bottlenecks. Now, one or two euros, that isn't really a lot of money, I mean compared to parking charges and running costs, etc., so you would probably expect that car drivers wouldn't really react to this fairly small charge. But the results are that one or two euros was enough to make 20 percent of cars disappear from rush hours! And traffic happens to be a nonlinear phenomenon, meaning that once you reach above a certain capacity threshold then congestion starts to increase really, really rapidly. But fortunately, it also works the other way around. If you can reduce traffic even somewhat, then congestion will go down much faster than you might think.

The other is limit the car on the road. Depending on your license plate number to determine whether you can travel today.

The third point, for humanbeings. People can do a lot of things to ease the problem, improving the awareness of green travel is the most important thing. If your home near by your company ,you can walk to work, that’s not only healthy for your health but also good for your city, maybe one people’s power is little, but if every can do this, we think it will make something differences.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpCQEMEWdxM

Jingdi WangAshley ‘s Journal Yesterday our topic was transportation. I think it is a widely concerned problem nowadays, because the transportation conditions affect our daily life, not only we should use various transportation tools to get to our destination but also the carbon emissions from cars have a bad effect on our natural environment. After the class I suppose that the government needs to perfect the public transportation system, the reason is that the developed public transportation systems can not only help residents to lead a convenient life but also can improve our quality of environment.

Problem: obesity
Solution:Health is an essential question. With economic development, many people become fatter and fatter. What caused this problem? I think there are some reasons. First, lots of people hurry on studying and working so they don't have enough time to do exercise. Second, their diet is unhealthy. Besides of that, there are some other reasons. But how can we solve this problem?
Adjusting the structure of the diet, eating less foods with high calorie ,such as potato chips, soft drinks, and hamburgers. Eating more low-calorie, high-vitamin foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits.Taking care of self health as early as you can is necessary. Maybe we should visit our doctor regularly, keep abreast of our health. This way could predict possible problems in time. Then the doctor could give some helpful advices and make some nutritional plans for us . In order to avoid obesity problem.Exercise is also a important way to keep health. Exercise regularly will help you to keep in good figure, also keep in good moods. You may think exercise may spend many time, but actually you can use you spare time to do these. Walking to your company is a really a good way to exercise and save energy the same time.

Today we talked about health. Good healthy are should be taken to everybody. But so many people in different places don’t have a qualified health care. This way might know you own body in time and predict the possible diseases. However some counties still suffer from disease and cannot be treated in time. It is unfair, so we should to found the reasons then try to solve them. The problems might be not have enough doctor, large populations, expensive cost and so on. It’s hard to change the situation completely, but we have to try. Fortunately, some countries and organizations and doctors without borders are using their actions to help countries in need. We really hope everything will become better.

How do you think the healthcare in your hometown?
Nowadays in China the healthcare has improved a lot, but some families still can’t get a good treatment when they are sick, the most important reason is that the lack of professional doctors and hospitals. So I think the government need to encourage more and more students to study scientific. Another reason is the poverty in some areas, as for this issue the world need to work together to help those poor areas to send doctors to their countries, such as the Organization of Doctor no Boundaries.

Such as heart deceasse, lung decease, digestive dicease, cancer and so on. Why our economy is developing, but there are so many decease can't be solved? First, we have not enough doctors, many students are not studying in scientific field. Second, the medication is too expensive and there not enough hostipals. Besides of that, poor rapport between patient and doctors is also a reason. We need to solve these problems , which need all of us. The first thing is to develop science and technology. We can do better in the future

Our group talks about four problems about health .First, healthcare is so expensive. Take America for example. The U.S. is one of the only developed countries without universal health care for its citizens. Oftentimes care is treated as a commodity rather than a necessity. Instead of prices being set by procedure costs, hospitals and insurance companies negotiate the prices that are based on bargaining power. Meanwhile patients have almost no influence on the cost, considering that there is often no alternative to being treated. But some have pointed out that unlike other commodities health care costs tend to rise without ever going down leading to a perpetually increasing price point.US hospitals should spend less than on administrative costs. Doctors also shouldn’t earn more for the same procedures than in other countries. Drug costs should be lower. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1D5CzpQDJg

second is about the hospital. We know in some places like some parts of Africa, there are not enough hospitals. People need to go far away to find a hospital. And many people died or got the condition worse because they can't get timely treatment. So for this problem, we think the government needs to establish classifying system for hospital's level. Some small hospital should be built near the community and provide basic treatment for people. And the big hospital should be built for the surgery or serious disease. Another problem is about the quality of the hospital. The government needs to set up standard for the hospital. And judge the level of the hospital every few years.

The third problem is the side effects of drug. Just like we need to sign the agreement of family members before surgery, the development of medicine is based on countless experiments and deaths. We should maintain a rational mindset to treat with. However, there are still some adverse drug reactions that we need to understand and identify. So, by your experience or habit to take medicine is very unwise, we must ask the dose and the use of number and other information to the doctor, and truthfully told of your health, allergy history, and other information about your body. Communication is very important. Safe medication, respect your health. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FlR57ogl8Xg

The last one is there are many poor regions where don’t have enough doctors and don’t have good educational conditions to study medicine. That also cause health problems. Therefore, we think people and government there should take actions to improve their healthcare conditions. For government, they need to build the medical school infranstructure actively, attracting teachers and students from developed countries. Here is an example, with a long-term vision a medical school in Cuba attracts students from developed countries to study because of government policy. https://video.search.yahoo.com/video/play;_ylt=AwrSw7w6A3paGQwADEi3mWRH;_ylu=X3oDMTEwOGNvcmd2BHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDdmlkBHZ0aWQDQjQ0MjIEZ3BvcwM5?p=study+medicine+situation&vid=6e67b20f0ef52051a6466cede6ccfe5c&turl=https%3A%2F%2Ftse3.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOVP.csRsOAQxQ5oXJp62lIeD-AEsDi%26pid%3D15.1%26h%3D226%26w%3

Today we focus on the excessive gap between rich and poor. The excessive gap endangered the social stability and safety. It make social pressure increased，and some bad things like money worship coming with it. And for morally，lots of money controlled in the minority，they waste money on enjoying while other people starving to death because of lack of money. We think this is against the moral. So for this problem, we come up with some solutions.

There are 5 solutions. First, to take care of the best interests of the most vulnerable groups, and secondly, to ensure that all positions and status are open to all people under fair and equal conditions. We should take care of some of the most vulnerable people, otherwise, they may feel like being deprived of the fundamental rights and being marginalized by the whole society. However, this represents a society that just receives hatred, instead of respect, from everyone. The truth is that a society without consensus will send all of us to even worse situations.

The third solution is to offer more job opportunities. Generally speaking, people are employed and paid by work. This is the basic way of living in modern society. Therefore, if we can provide people with more job opportunities, the low-income class will not rely on the social security system, alleviate the income gap, and increase the economic vitality.

Fourthly, a fair education system and a new social security system are necessary. Only if people feel more equitable can we live a more harmonious economic life.

The last solution we think is raising the awareness of low income people. They can earn more money through education, related institutions can also train low income people to improve their viability.

https://video.search.yahoo.com/video/play;_ylt=AwrS32G.VHtaVj8Akzu3mWRH;_ylu=X3oDMTEwdGlqc2xtBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDdmlkBHZ0aWQDQjQ1ODQEZ3BvcwMy?p=A+fair+education+system+and+a+new+social+security+system.&vid=5bca2c4722a94e208e837086df907fd7&turl=https%3A%2F%2Ftse2.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOVP.KZs8HJwHndg70RzN_8EZoAEsDi%26pid%3D15.1%26h%3D226%26w%3D300%26c%3D7%26rs%3D1&rurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dd6J9lsPGdCg&tit=Social+Security+New+Money+System+part+1+of+2&c=1&h=226&w=300&l=419&sigr=11bvjk947&sigt=11c9idrj7&sigi=12rht0004&age=1254886169&fr2=p%3As%2Cv%3Av&fr=yfp-hrmob&tt=b

http://m.international.caixin.com/m/2018-01-23/101202197.html

How do people get the job again? https://www.ted.com/talks/carol_fishman_cohen_how_to_get_back_to_work_after_a_career_break/transcript

Frances
The economic problem that our group discussed today is the gap between the rich and the poor .We came up with some solutions. First, the government should promotes fairness in the redistribution of social wealth by regulating taxes. Then, the government should also complete social welfare for the Improvement of living standards of ordinary people.
However, in the past thousands of years, all rulers know that the gap between the rich and the poor in society should not be too large. But, few countries and dynasties can avoid this problem with the social and economic development.
In my memory, no reform can eradicate this issue. When the gap between the rich and the poor in society is too serious, the solutions can reorganize social resources be redistributed thoroughly and narrow the gap dramatically are always violent. Such as revolution, war, large-scale disease like black death.
Well, I think it's terrible.

I felt very good because I became increasingly comfortable with the weather here in Riverside. I smile to everyone and greet everyone. And today’s topic for John’s class is economy. We are allowed to have a brainstorm about other topics before the topic of economy. Our group talked for a long time, and finally we decided to talked about the mental health of college school student.

As a junior, I had a lot to tell. There are two sophomores and three juniors in our group. We had a heated discussion about what we feel about our university life. Valuable? Meaningless? OR so-so？ The answers are different. Juniors tend to be cherish their university’s life more and have their goals concretely. While sophomores are not very sure about their goals in the future. Different students in different stage have different thoughts. It is amazing.

Time is up, we still have a lot to say. But never mind, leave it tomorrow.^_^

Our problems are about the unbalenced distribution of education resources. We think it's a serious topic in China. And it results in many problems, such as many children in poor areas don't have a chance to go to school though they are old enough. And there are too many children in China, but we don't have enough excellent teachers to give them education. Maybe the government should take some measures to solve these problems. We need more budget in education and more teachers. In addition, we need a fair environment to receive education.
And today is my friend Lee 's birthday, we celebrated his birthday and ate a cake together at noon. Happy birthday to Lee ！

With economic development and the improvement of transportation, bike sharings appear in all regions one after another. But many people don't have enough moral sense, so there are a series of problems. Such as human destruction, random parked, and some people lock the bikes then make the bikes to their own belongings. Why there are so many problems? I think the essential reason is that people's moral sense can't equal with economic development. To solve the problems, we need develop education, improve people's moral sense. Besides that, we should do it from ourselves.

One problem is that the unbalance distribution of education resources. It means that some children in the poor areas are still have no access to school. It is so horrible if children cannot attend school because without education they can’t express their ideas or even have their own ideas about further things in the world.

Another issue is the “Global learning crisis” I learnt it from Ted, it describes that although children are studying in school, they cannot study efficiently and in poor performance. So we need to not only increase the number of teachers and schools but also to reinforce the quality of teachers and classes.

On the other hand, college examation not only bring pressure to student but also to teacher, teachers use all their time to help students with their study, it's may cause unhealthy life style to both students and teachers. This education program cause many problems need to be solved.
Background:
China has huge population and the relative shortage of university education resources .Therefore, the government selects the students through a unified examination to receive college education.
However, because of the unequal educational resources among various regions in China, the college entrance examination guarantees fairness as much as possible, while also bring about a series of educational problems.
Solution:1. Conventional education blocks students' creativity, so we should reform educational system , pay attention to developing creative persons.
2. Students should develop their the spirit of suspicion and criticism consciously
3.Another solution we can take is making the student change their major and school more conveniently, not only decide by one exam, so that they will have more chance to go to a better stage.

Our group talked about the college entrance examination in China and we conclude four problems about it.

The first problem is Chinese college entrance examination is the most important examination to each Chinese student. We studied very hard in the past 12 years, and this is the last station. The higher you test, the better college you can enter. Everyone will try their best in order to get good grades. So in this time, many students stop all the entertainments and focus on the study. Here comes the problem, your abilities are just judged by the scores, can score represent anything? we suppose not. Students’ ability should be considered by multiple side. We should change the way of examination, and take other parts into considered.

Second is the college entrance examination has influenced the fate of Chinese students. However, there are regional differences in the college entrance examination. Many areas still hold privileges. Their students often go to a good university with low scores, while others in other areas struggle for many years, and at last, they are just an ordinary university. Even worse, even if the scores are high, universities in the developed regions may not be able to recruit them. We think government can unify the examination papers of the college entrance examination and adjust the enrollment standards of various regional colleges and Universities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAmtH91S2GQ&list=PLwXMmy5fUrVw2prjsGuKla15LPRVnSv6G

The third problem we think is the college entrance exam has brought students a lot of pressure. Students can’t concentrate on the study in class. The lacks of rest become the intimate partner of many senior three students. They cannot sleep at night; the food they eaten is tasteless, they are sleepy in class. And their interpersonal relationship is tense. They think it meaningless to do anything. So we come up with three solutions. First of all, we can listen to the music when we feel there is lots of pressure on me. Second, just take to someone who we believe in, which is the best solution we think. Finally, give ourselves a relaxing time, do not think of anything.

The last problem is that In China, college entrance examination is the most important turning point in people's life. It is so important that it almost determines the fate of a man. Most people who have not experienced the college entrance examination are less likely to live better than those who have passed the college exam. Society and companies attach too much importance to education so that many non-graduates can't find work and that causes their inequality income. Here is a essay talked about the income inequality gap between Educated and Non-Educated Workers

For this problem, we think the best way to solve it needs government regulation. The government needs to provide a variety of jobs and enhances investment to raise salaries for higher skilled workers. Adopting various forms of professional training will be also necessary for higher quality and stronger competitiveness of rural labor force.
https://www.ashford.edu/blog/career-tips/income-inequality-and-the-earnings-gap-between-educated-and-non-educatedentrance

Today we talk about the mental health of college and education in class. I think this issues are important to us. In my opinion, the social support system has a great influence on mental health level. The more friends you have, the more help you will get.
And next we talk about the education. The college entrance exam has brought students a lot of pressure. Students can’t concentrate on the study in class. The lacks of rest become the intimate partner of many senior three students. They cannot sleep at night; the food they eaten is tasteless, they are sleepy in class.

Frances
The main content of today's course is to share the results of groupsss' discussion. The issue that our group discussed is bike sharing. In China, bike sharing has been widespread. It facilitates people's lives while brings many problems.A lot of traffic accidents have taken place. For example, an 11-year-old boy didn't obey the rules and rode a bicycle himself. But he dead in an accident. And many companies fold up because of underperformance and vicious competition. Some people put the bicycle everwhere, affecting others

In order to solve these problems, we not only need the government to strengthen management, but also raise people's moral awareness.

LA is a city full of fun, there are many visitors and there are also players acting like famous characters in the movie. We spend three hours there and then went a China town to eat hot pot. It's very delicious and make me homesick, I really miss my family, I hope i can spend spring festival with them. On Saturday, we went to Macey's. I bought lots of clothes and make ups, and some medical for my parents. I have a really busy weekend.
Today we talk about what we have learned in these two weeks in America. I think the most useful thing i learned in America is how to deal with different culture. After spend two weeks with my homestay family, i feel a lot about America culture. And I also learned how to deal with this conflict. I think cross culture understanding is really important. I want to learn more about American culture.
In the few weeks left, I would like to learn more about how to write an article. I want to improve my writing skills. My experience in America make me learn something new. I feel really fantastic.

At first, we were attracted by various landscapes and game sites. We had hard time to decide what to do because there were too many things we can play. And then my friend Carol guided us. When she was a little girl, she had been to disneyland. She said it changed a lot, but she also knew which one is better to play because recently she always played with her grandchildrens in disneyland.

At 10.30pm, the most exciting show started acting. It called “Fantasmic” . It was similar to a water dance show. Therefore, when it was showing, a lot of water splattered. Everybody who watched the show were all got wet. Maybe this caused my cold, but I still think this one was the most successful show in disneyland.

I think it is the personal presentation, because it gives me a chance to challenge me and show off me. Then the last hour we used to talk a topic about shelter. Though the economy has developed, but there are also many people who don"t have shelter. There are many reasons and including naltural calamities. We have governmnt, but most time the government can"t solve the problems in time. What we shou do is that develop the technology and give them more shelters

For example, a kid in Impoverished mountainous area almost has no access to learn. Even though there has school, it will take him two or three hours to get there and also can be dangerous. Because he have to across the mountain. But for the boy of rich family living in the prosperous city, he can learn everything he want. And he can also go abroad to get further study. Sounds unfair, but it's truth. John said it is same in America. It's a hard issue for government, too. For this problem, I can only expect time to change it.

Hu, Taylor, Peter
Today, our topic is shelter, and homelessness is the most extreme form of housing need. So, our group wants to discuss the homelessness. It isn’t just about people sleeping on the streets. Take England for example; there are many more people in who do not have a home despite not actually sleeping rough. Some have to put up with living in temporary accommodation where they have an uncertain future. Unable to afford alternative options, others have to endure overcrowding and unsanitary conditions. Having a home is about more than just having a roof over your head.

Homeless people live on the street suffer from the cold, hunger and the threat of crime, these people always lost connections with their family or friends, many suffer from mental illness. The people walking on the street feel less than happy when they see that scene. Last week, I walked on the street and I saw a man was wearing shabby clothes and pushing a cart which makes me feel a little sad though the day is sunny.

The most direct way to solve homeless is obviously to increase housing, which needs to rent or buy a house and where the money comes from. If people can afford it, they will not homeless, so it needs government's welfare support. In addition, after the group discussion, we think the government should introduce more affordable housing, and the reform of the purchase order, buy house after rent for an exact time，etc.

Today, First of all, John has told us some situations when we learn language. They said we usually learn the language which is formal, however, the language is used in daily life. It makes people confused but it is the fact. secondly, what bothers me is that I always think in Chinese when I write English essays and speak English. But he think there is no good or bad between different language. It is a process ,not immediately. In a word, his word is useful for me.

Today I feel better, Just a little cough. In the morning, we had class at main campus. I love to go to main campus because it gives me a lot of chances to meet students all over the world and gives me many opportunities to talk with foreign students as well.

We, all students from Hebei University, were a little confused about what the teacher said in the class because she spoke so fast. However, we still learned a lot of things.

The first thing we learned was the way American students attend classes. In their class, teacher alway ask students do they have any questions or any questions about other students opinions. And then students can ask questions freely and talk about their own opinions with freedom. The next thing I learned was the patterns they learn knowledge. Teacher divided the students' reading into five sections and then she asked students to form groups freely to discuss each topic by themselves. After discussions, teacher asked each groups about their ideas related to their topic. All students had their different way and different point of view. Therefore, the result came out that everyone did an excellent job.

What an interesting and meaningful day!
