Analysis of Data and Graphs

When researching for this assignment, I stumbled upon the average life expectancy of the U.S. throughout each state. I wanted to see how it would look after being graphed accordingly. I found it interesting to see that Indiana was ranked 42nd out of the 50 with a 74.8 average age. It was also interesting to me that all the average ages were between 71 and 79.

When reviewing the numbers and once again, seeing that they averaged between 71-79, I was not surprised to see that the mean and median were 76 each with only decimal places separating them. The standard deviation was expected to be low because, again, the little diversity in numbers with this data.

When creating the graphs, I wanted to distribute it in the most informative way possible. So with the histogram and the pie chart, I made sure to make five different groups ranging between one to three years with each group. This is because I wanted to see if there were any data clusters, where the peaks were, and if there were any gaps shown. The peak, in my opinion, was were the data was clustered at; but that is only due to the fact that the peak was in the middle. There were, however, no gaps in any of the graphs. Probably because of the little of range between the average ages.

If I had to chose one graph, I would chose the histogram because I believe it shows the most information. The line graph only shows each state and where they sit on the graph and the pie chart only showed the groupings with each percentage of the groupings.
