I conducted a survey with 13 students. According to my students, my lesson used to be complex and they struggled to cope with the tasks.

■According to the answers, 80 percentage of the students, have difficulty mainly in speaking and listening.

■They want to talk about news in English that they heard before main part of every lesson so that they have a chance to improve their speech and enrich the vocabulary as well.

■About 50 percent of students think that doing a short active listening task during the lesson can develop their listening skill.

My colleague's suggestion:

■ They suggested me to implement positive and negative reinforcement to the students who did not do homework and are passive within the lesson or the students who are active .

■ According to her point of view, some of the students seemed quite shy and discouraged to provide answers during the lesson.

■ The teacher used monotonous teaching techniques. Students just followed teacher’s instruction, for example, answering some questions or copying from teacher’s writing on the whiteboard. This makes English learning uninteresting and students feel bored.

■ doing more warm -up activities and speaking tasks can help to involve all the pupils to the lesson and make them be self-confident.

■ using interesting games and methods such as Board Race , Word Jumble Race and Pictionary.

3. There is a belief that ice breaking can be used in the classroom as it provides several advantages for the students. One of them is that it can improve students’ learning motivation. Action 1.

☆ Emphasizing on speaking activities such as asking latest news around the world or having more discussions on the chosen topic.

Reason: Students want to improve their speech, avoid to be shy and learn expressing their point of view among the audience. Moreover, they are in favor of enriching their vocabulary

Action 2

☆ Doing short listening activities during the class.

Reason: Students have difficulty in listening and they want to develop their listening skill by doing short listening activities such as filling the gaps and multiple choice questions.

Action 3

☆ Using some books including various vocabulary and grammar exercises.

Reason: They want to enrich their vocabularies and develop the knowledge on Grammar. If they have perfect basic grammar knowledge and wide ranges of vocabulary they can be good at speaking and writing too

☆ Avoid monotonous teaching and be more active in every class.

Reason: To make the lesson more colorful and interesting and warm up the students by sharing energy

Using games and ice breaking activities during the lesson to improve students' learning motivation.

Students' answers:

• Comparing to previous lessons, we are more enjoying the lesson and interested in tasks.

• especially, discussion and sharing news parts help us to improve our self-esteem.

• Our grammar knowledge and vocabulary are gradually improving.

• It is interesting to have listening taks.

  My own reflection:

  My students began to be active after having positive feedback. Especially speaking activities helped them to be self-confidient and feel free to share their point of views during the lesson.

  
  

  Students behaviour:

  By observing the class, I found out that students enjoyed doing exercises and playing games during the lesson. They were really active. They began to discuss the topics with each other. There was change for the better speaking and listening skills.
