Theme

Dealing with emotions and reflecting on them.

Children are able to relate to Max as they would have been punished by their parents before. They would have their own ways of managing their emotions and regulating themselves. Hence, this book would validate their emotions and techniques, and teach them a lesson about reconciliation about any event that has happened (realising that their parents still love them no matter what).

The children would be attracted to the idea that Max was able to 'escape' and use his imagination to reflect on the whole situation and resolves his feelings.

Plot

Max's mum told him to go to bed. His bedroom's wall became the world around him. He sailed a boat to where the wild things are. He did various stuff with the wild things. After, he was done, he sailed back to his room and found his supper which was still hot.

The fantasy and imagination involved. Sometimes, when the children are lying on bed, they may imagine themselves in another world. This form of plot appeals to children as it is relatable since children imagine themselves in different worlds all the time.
