Hey y'all!! My name is Mykylie Meador! I am from a small town in Texas called Sulphur Springs. I have a brother named Montana and two adorable nieces, Monroe and Charlie. Family is most important to me. In high school, I played golf and tennis. My dad was my coach! I was also very involved in my high school. I was in stuco, key club, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), and FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America). I love being around friends and family as often as possible. In my free time, my favorite things to do are play pickleball, shop, and go on walks with friends!

My "why" for teaching!

I've always loved being around kids, but I didn't always want to be a teacher. Both my parents are educators, and so when heading to college, I wanted to pursue a different career path and branch out in the business world. However, after my freshman year of being in the Walton College, I realized I was pursuing something that I wasn't passionate about. I've always loved being around kids, and during my freshman year, I worked at the nursery at my church and realized I was passionate and eager to serve kids! So, I switched my major to elementary education, and I am so happy I did. Additionally, this summer, I was blessed with the opportunity to work at Kanakuk Camps in Branson, Missouri, at the K-Kountry camp.

I got to be a counselor to a bunch of 10-year-old girls. It was so awesome to serve and make a difference in the lives of my campers. My time at camp made me so excited to continue my journey and to continue making a difference as a teacher.

Future goals!

After graduating with an elementary education degree, my goal is to become a first-grade teacher! I either want to teach somewhere back home in Texas or in the Northwest Arkansas area. One of my core teaching values is ensuring my classroom is a place where students feel welcome and safe and eager to learn. I want each student in my class to feel comfortable and to make deep connections with each student. Being a teacher is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of my students and use it as a mission field to shine a light in my students' lives.
