Dear Abby: One of my colleagues is wonderful and gets things done, and well, but their preference is to continue with the status quo -- not interested in growth and/or new and exciting initiatives. (They see me very busy, always stressed, not meeting deadlines, AND getting some big and exciting wins.) We acknowledge that we have different philosophies and approaches, and we respect each other. But I do sort of wish they were more ambitious. Should I be happy with the status quo in their department?

Really good examples of when Directive Decision Making might be most appropriate - emergencies, decisions that affect just me, etc. Collaborative seems like the best practice for most decision making. What are examples of a time when Consensus Decision Making might be the most appropriate?
