In the 1910 decade, Babe Ruth started his debut in baseball. Spanish influenza outbreak spreads globally killing thousands. Puerto Rice citizens are granted US citizenship. The US officially joins world war I. This song was meant to rally troops for the entry into WWI.

The roaring twenties was an era of social and political change. The US became a very consumerist society. This also was the birth of the jazz age which was a new type of music. The youth during the time enjoyed dancing to it however some people thought it to be vulgar. Some of the largest names in Jazz were Luis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Red hot pepper, The Mill's brothers and Jimmie Rodgers.  This was also the time when a large number African American migrated from southern states to northern states. Racial tensions were high especially with the Ku Klux Klan.

Starting in 1929 until 1939 the US went through the Great Depression where economies experienced the stock market crash and many people lost homes and starved. Hitler began his rise and spreading or propaganda and started WWII. The creation of concentration camps started the decade during WWII. In 1941 Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese, and the Manhattan project began. The US bombed Hiroshima and Nakisami and with Hitler's suicide, WWII ended in 1945. Winston Churchill gave his famous Iron Curtain speech and Jackie Robinson became the first African American man in the major league baseball. In 1949 NATO was established, China became communist and the Soviet Union created an atom bomb.

The US experienced a spike in the population with the return of soldiers from WWII. The creation of suburbs expand cities and white families would leave the city with a larger population of African American. Women who had taken over jobs when men were fighting the war were urged to take their homemaker roles back. The civil rights movement started to fight radical inequalities. JFK was the youngest president every elected then he assassinated, the US was in the middle of the Vietnam war and people were protesting the war. The Cuban missile crisis almost pushed the US to another war. The Beatles became a very popular band. Martin Luther King Jr gave his famous "I have a dream' speech in Washington D.C. The civil rights act was signed by President Johnson in 1968 after the assassination of MLK Jr. The first man was sent into space by NASA.

The 70's was a big time for social justice movements including women's rights, anti-war, and environmental rights. Abortion was legalized in the Roe v Wade case. Technology was on the rise with Apple computers founded and Microsoft. The first Star Wars movie premiered in 1977.

Sally Ride was the first female in space in 1983. The Iran-Iraq war ended in the late 80's. A terrorist bomb brought down the Pan Am flight 103 in Finland and a US navy ship shot down and Iran air flight.
