He was motivated by gold and glory. He was motivated by Gold(New trading route to India) this was a positive cause because it would help them gain alliance with India. He was also motivated by wanting to be the first one to find a route to India(Glory). This was a positive cause because it helped him find find part of the route but it also did lead to his death.

Another effect of colonization is when Europeans came the native americans were forced to follow European cultures and beliefs. Native americans were also removed from their homes and were relocated.
Lastly, one other effect of colonization was diseases.Once the Europeans arrived they spread old world diseases such as smallpox,measles, and influenza. Since the Native americans live separately from other countries they had never came in contact with those diseases so as a result many died due to the lack of knowledge.
