Some Advent traditions are Advent Wreaths, Advent Calendars, and Advent Candles. The Traditional Advent Catholic Advent prayer is: "My loving Jesus, I choose you, this Advent, as my King and my God. I abandon myself to You and seek to put all my trust in Your tender care. Draw me close to You and free me from my sin so that I may love You with a pure and holy heart".

Advent is a 4 week season of remembering and celebrating the arrival of Jesus on earth. We celebrate Advent for the purpose of remembering Jesus and his birth. But spiritually it is meant as a celebration of the earthly birth of Jesus around 2000 years ago. This year it starts on Sunday November 30th.
