The number one rule for dealing with cyberbullying is: don’t respond, don’t interact and don’t engage.

· Take a copy of all abusive messages. These may be useful legally later on.

· Parents should not threaten to ban access to the Internet if bullying occurs. The main reason young people do not tell their parents when they are cyberbullied is because they fear they will lose access to the computer.

· Get help! No one can cope with this alone.

These are just some general netiquette guidelines to consider and follow in order to avoid hurting people on the internet as well as have basic etiquette when on the internet so that everyone can all properly respect each other.
-Think about how your words may be received before you push Send or Post button.
-Sarcasm often does not translate well in writing, so try to avoid using it, or consider using emoticons to indicate when you're happy, joking, surprised, etc.
-Ask for feedback from your instructor if you're not sure how your ideas and comments will be taken.
-"Flaming," should be avoided. To flame is to scorch a reader with scathing criticism, usually in response to something that person wrote in a previous message. When you are angry, keep your hands away from the keyboard.
-And derogatory or inappropriate comments regarding race, gender, age, religion or sexual orientation, are unacceptable and subject to action as noted in the Student Code of Conduct.
-Avoid using UPPER CASE. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING.
-Keep your sentences and message short and concise.
Leave out irrelevant detail.
-When you are wrong or have issued an impulsive response, promptly admit it.
-Check your spelling before sending the message.
