When we are younger, we are taught to love and be kind towards one another. The action of kindness through society has changed dramatically as more and more problems develop. Most believe that kindness is saying thank you, expressing yes to everything, or simply doing something in return for an award. If you believe that these are actions of kindness, then stop. Presenting virtuous deeds of kindness means more when an issue like racism, LGBTQ community, animal abuse, politics, etc. is presented to us. We as society have lost the idea of neighborly love and compassion that many do not understand the reasoning behind acceptance of others. Which leads us to our problem—what are the causes of deterioration of civility and kindness?

Problem of Study:

People take kindness for weakness

· People take advantage of some

People looking down or talking about you for being nice

Acting different in front of others

· Embarrassed to be nice or lend a helping hand

Ways to help:
1. Practice Gratitude
2. Self Care

4. Hug Someone
5. Be an Encourager

Questions:

Why do people lose patience?

Why do people have less compassion?

Factors affected by childhood

Focusing on the problems and the causes of it

It is vital for us to recognize that kindness should not be accountable for political beliefs. Everything else really fell into place. In assignment 2, I contributed with some information towards the Social, Psychological, and Political categories. For example, in social; I have seen many cruel comments where people would rather attack someone’s livelihood rather than uplift them. The comments often lead people into wanting to end their lives because people may call them ugly, gay, fat, etc. We need to stop being mean to one another and practice kindness so that we can support one another. We are supposed to be united. By uplifting each other, not only would we be kind but stronger. Doing this will allow acceptance into our hearts and feel more connected with one another.

In regards to the different psychological, social, environmental, political and even economical. Another thing I took away is the immense number of topics that we could focus on to make our topic not so broad. My primary contribution for STEP 2 evolved the psychological aspects that can take place when it is confronted by the lack of kindness we see and heard about going on in our society. One of the primary insights that I offered for the group consisted of research findings focusing on bullying. Which then lead to three sub categories of bullying: cyber bullying, physical bullying, and verbal bullying. When looking up cyber-bullying, a majority of what came up were links either discussing suicide or a news article about a different case of a suicide. The fact that got to me most, is that “suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year”, according to the CDC.

However, it regards to our topic, the most important aspect thus far has been the idea of bullying and our statistics we were about to find which then turns back to the lack of kindness in our society. Although, Our four main topics are economics, sociology, psychology and political sciences. Economics and political science are practically hand-in-hand, similar to the way of psychology and sociology. Our concept map then furthers the explanation of these different factors as we attempt to grasp the meaning of what this will then in return do to ourselves through external and internal factors. Even though we have seemed to come to a pretty clear understanding of the meaning of ‘Interdisciplinarity’, I have noticed that the focus has been a majority on the psychology and sociology factors when we really need to tie in the economics and political science because this also makes up much of our way as life as well as it effects psychology and sociology aspects of our lives just as much.
