This book by John Green is a beautiful description of what goes on inside a person's mind. The story revolves around Aza Holmes, who is a teen that had to face a lot of challenges as a child.
This affected her mentally and caused her mind to spiral around certain thoughts. She had no control over this.
The book is well-written and gives you a whole another deeper perspective of the phrase "There's more to things than what meets the eye"
Each line gives you something to think about.
The title of the book is a depiction of how narrow-mindedness and naivity can affect a person.
I would rate this book a 9.8/10
The philosophical views of this young girl will make you question your own.

The book Marble Collector may seems like a childlike book to begin with , seeing the appearance and the feel but as we read through the chapters , there are many things we understand that is not so simple to comprehend .

The book focuses on two main characters , a father and a daughter . The father , Fergus Boggs is a man full of secrets and have a love for marbles while his daughter Sabrina is a woman who lives a monotonous life filled with sighs and looking after her three children . It shows how the father loses his memories and the daughter goes on to find one of her father's most precious possessions , marbles and is then embarks on the search of finding the remaining marbles .

The books rapidly shifts continuously on both the characters , the life of Fergus as the marble collector from his childhood era and the life of his daughter and her quest to find the marbles .

The book begins with prologue that narrated by the daughter . She talks about how she have this knack for remembering things others have forgotten and how she remembers all the dramatic moments when people around her showed the part they have always hidden . The thing that triggered me to read the book is in the end of the prologue where Sabrina is quoted saying, ‘That part of us is present the whole time ,lying dormant ,just waiting for its moment to be revealed . Including me .’

Rating : 10/10

Review of the book :- I Capture the Castle

Rating : 8.5/10

Dodie Smith's novel I Capture the Castle is a journey through the mind of a young writer as she attempts to chronicle her daily life. Seventeen-year-old Cassandra Mortmain has recently learned to speed-write, and she decides to work on her writing skills by describing the actions and conversations of those around her.

Cassandra lives in a fourteenth-century English castle with an interesting cast of characters: her beautiful older sister, Rose; her rather unsociable author father and his second wife, artist-model Topaz; Stephen, the garden boy; a cat and a bull terrier; and sometimes her brother Thomas when he is home from school. One fateful day they make the acquaintance of the Cotton family, including the two sons, and a web of tangled relationships ensues.

While I definitely recommend this book to other readers, I would recommend it to older teenagers, mainly because it will resonate better with them. The writing is tame enough that younger teens could also read it, but most of the characters are adults or on the verge of adulthood. Older readers would take the most from it since they can not only relate, but they may also better pick up on and appreciate Cassandra's sometimes subtle humor.

Over the course of the novel, Cassandra undergoes a definite transformation from child to mature young adult, even though it's only over the course of several months. I love that I could see into her mindset and read exactly what she was feeling when she thought out situations. Her thoughts flowed well and moved the book along very quickly.

REVIEW OF THE BOOK INVISIBLE

Invisible is a realistic and terrifying book written by James Patterson and David Ellis , showing the miseries of a FBI analyst Emma, who just lost her sister in a fire accident .
Emmy, however, sees that conclusion much differently and moves beyond her personal grief to develop evidence that proves not only her sister was murdered, but numerous other victims suffered an identical fate.

Emmys biggest obstacle was to overcome is convincing her boss of her hypothesis. FBI Executive Assistant Director Julius, is a man with whom Emmy has had previous disagreements.
After her prolonged efforts she ultimately prevails and receives permission to launch an investigation into the murders ,
but only after she devises an elaborate scheme that puts her boss in an untenable position.
Her fiancé, aka Books, used to be an FBI special agent but now owns a bookstore . After Emily implores him to help find her sister’s killer, he agrees to return to his old job to head up the complex investigation.

Assisted by several other analysts, the team develops evidence that points to a diabolical scheme to torture and murder people.
The worst point is that even to the trained eye, the deaths appear to have been caused by accidental fires.
The team dissects and analyzes every scrap of information about each of the dozens of heretofore accidental deaths and finally discovers a method of operation allowing them to zero in on a suspect.

The authors have created a unique antagonist, one they disguise so cleverly that I was will be shocked when I finally discovered the monster’s identity.
The story is superbly written, particularly the treatment of the forensics. The evidence the FBI team must deal with is incredibly ghoulish, nevertheless, the investigative techniques and legal protocol are spot on .
I give this book 9.5/10
Reading the story is almost like slowing down to look at a horrible traffic accident. You know you shouldn’t, but you do so anyway. Invisible is a thriller that will keep you up at night.

Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, the book involves the police shooting of an unarmed black teen. The book covers topics of race, interracial dating, political activism, grief, friendship, wealth disparity, police brutality and the media's depiction of African Americans.

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. Starr becomes entangled in a national news story after she witnesses a white police officer shoot and kill her childhood friend, Khalil. She speaks up about the shooting in increasingly public ways, and social tensions culminate in a riot after a grand jury decides not to indict the police officer for the shooting. Facing pressure from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and decide to stand up for what's right.

I absolutely adored this book. I truly don't feel like it has a single flaw. Every topic addressed was approach so wonderfully and did not hold back. I would give this book 10/10 because it covers all the issues a person of color goes through in day to day life. This novel is fueled by vividly drawn characters and large themes of systemic racism and speaking truth to power. Especially memorable is Starr’s fierce, sometimes sharply humorous first-person voice as she reflects on things including politics and her loving, strong-willed parents.

The story of Sapiens is coming to an end, as the species has outgrown its hominid self. Through science and technology, they have the power and intelligence to become gods and create new artificial life and recreate themselves. Sapiens are the new gods of ‘Intelligent Design’ – they are Homo Deus. Their future is not human, it is trans human as they transition into something new. If they do not destroy themselves first. The problem with Sapiens is that despite their power, they do not know what they want. They do not even know what they want to want. Is there anything more dangerous than dissatisfied and irresponsible gods who don’t know what they want?

My Sister's Keeper is about thirteen year-old Anna Fitzgerald who was conceived through IVF for the sole purpose of saving her older sister, Kate. As a baby, Kate was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia. Kate's cells are used while conceiving Anna so she could donate her umbilical cord blood to Kate. The novel revolves around thirteen year-old Anna who sues her parents for medical emancipation after she is asked to donate a kidney to Kate.

The novel has been written beautifully. Each character has layers and have been written with perfection. The story teaches you how every story has countless sides to it and when viewed justly, they all seem to make sense in their own ways. One can't help but sympathise with the characters even when one seems to hurt another.

The ending to the book is a massive tear-jerker. Just when it seems like things are about to fall in place in the most bittersweet way, Picoult hits you with a massive and heartbreaking plot twist.

I would rate this book a 10/10

Title- The Street Child

Author- Berlie Doherty

Based on a true story, an awarding winning novel, set on the stages of 1860’s in London this breathtaking story takes you through the journey of a little boy, Jim Jarvis.

The beginning of the story itself is an eye catching cliché and when the reader slowly tries to understand about what is going on more of the dark secrets are revealed. From the title one could make out what the story is about, but what makes the story interesting is not just the figure of speeches used by the author and the brilliant dialogue delivery but also the real emotions connected with each character.

The readers can develop as much as hate for one character and they might just fall in love with another. All the emotions bought out by the author, whether be it sorrow, mild happiness, shock, anger and jealousy have been perfectly combined and put in to the story so as to give the readers a taste of everything.

The actions and thrills and twist and turns bought about during the escape journey have been merged very well and the reader could relate one incidence to another.

All in all the book gives you a complete rollercoaster ride, taking you up and down with a little jiggle and fear down your tummy. One of my most highly recommended novels. Along with the novel I would also recommend to read ‘Far From Home’ which tells you about the journey of the two sisters of the protagonist.

Ratings: 9.5/10

-Dhanvi Nautiyal
