Our first usrah session started with introduction and ice-breaking with Brother Zarif, the usrah assistant. This helped us know each other and feel more comfortable. We also talked about the adab for learning such as preparing, asking questions, and taking notes, as well as being sincere and respecting knowledge. In the end, we were reminded that the Qur’an is the main guide for us, teaching about Allah’s oneness, the prophets, and our duties as His servants.

Week 2

This week we learned about the Hadith of Jibril, where Angel Jibril asked the Prophet ﷺ about Islam, Iman, and Ihsan. This hadith is very important because it sums up our religion. It helps us get closer to Allah, be better with people, clean ourselves from sins, and live as real servants of Allah.

Week 3

We then talked about the Pillars of Islam and the second hadith in Imam Nawawi’s collection. We learned again about belief in Allah, His angels, and His books. These beliefs remind us of Allah’s power, the obedience of the angels, and the guidance that came through His scriptures, especially the Qur’an which is kept safe for all people.

Week 4

This week we continued with the rest of the Pillars of Iman: belief in the messengers, the Last Day, and Qada’ and Qadar. We read Surah Nuh (1–28) about Prophet Nuh’s patience in his da’wah. We also learned about the stages of the Day of Judgment to remind us that we will be accountable in the Hereafter. Qada’ and Qadar taught us to accept Allah’s plans with patience and thankfulness.

Week 5

The topic this week was Ihsan, the highest level of faith. Surah Al-Isra (22–39) gave advice on how to live rightly, like avoiding shirk, respecting parents, and living morally. We discussed how to practice Ihsan every day such as praying sincerely, helping others, speaking truth, and working honestly. There was also a short reminder about heaven and hell, pushing us to aim for Jannah and avoid sins that lead to Jahannam.

Week 6

Our last session was about adab. From Surah Maryam (41–50), we learned how Prophet Ibrahim (AS) spoke respectfully to his father, showing us how to treat parents with respect. We also learned about good manners with neighbours and society, like being kind, helping each other, and not causing harm. As students, we show adab by respecting teachers, focusing during lessons, and being humble when gaining knowledge.
