in his class they begin by creating a class constitution (rules, rights) For instance, Right to take a break, Responsibility to be respectful, Right to earn privileges, they also created a bill for a class pet (Spark)Any issues that arise in Anthony’s class students are able to lobby bills. His students are so excited and passionate about their cause that they have shed tears of joy and despair depending on the outcome of bills. They also fundraise each year. Before we left school in March his students were able to provide bags of food for every student in school, before they left for virtual learning. They’ve also used funds to make cookies for local deaf community centers and nursing homes. Anthony has integrated civics and government into everyday decisions that take place in his school. Most recently his class made video to thank the Governor’s interpreter. Students in Anthony’s class have an understanding democracy, using their voice in classroom, their voice in their learning, and their voice in their community
