Because parents are the ones that teach children how to truly behave, children owe their parents for all of the advice that parents offer. In the poem entitled "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, Kincaid writes, "this is how you sweep a whole house; this is how you sweep a yard; this is how you smile to someone you don’t like too much." This is an example of how a parent offers a child advise for how to behave at home and around others. The poem is proof that parents, regardless of what we wish to believe, are always trying to do what they think is best for their children, even if the child views it as incorrect.

When people are in love, they want their relationship to last as long as it can. In the poem "O.C.D" by Neil Hilborn he states that "... I leave the door unlocked I leave the lights on." This proves that Neil wanted their love to last for a long time, since they broke up he leaves the door unlocked because he believes she's going to come back. In addition, in the poem "O.C.D" by Neil Hilborn he states that "When we moved in together, she said she felt safe, like no one would rob us." This expresses the idea that people in relationships want to endeavor their love by lasting as long as possible, since they moved in together he believes that she wasn't going to leave and that she was going to stay as long as possible. But once he saw that moving together was the right thing because she felt safe he thought that made the opportunity for them to last. To sum it all up, when people are in love, they want their relationship to last as long as it can.

When people are in love, they seek passion and for the other person to understand them. In the poem, "O.C.D" by Niel Hilborn, the author states,"She loved that I had to kiss her goodbye sixteen or twenty-four times if it was a Wednesday." This quote explains how the girl understood his illness and accpted him for who he was. This quote proves my claim because it emphasizes on how the author shows his OCD to the girl he has fallen in love with and she accepts him. This goes back to my claim as I stated that people seek passion and understanding from love. She shows understanding by accepting his illness and he gives her passion by loving her so much. The poem "O.C.D" by Niel Hilborn also states,"...when she said she loved me, her mouth curled up at the edges." This quote explains that at the time, she truly loved him. The quote shows her giving him love and passion. In their relationship what was needed was passion and understanding and for awhile it worked but she began to distance herself and the passion was lost. She refused to understand anymore of him and she eventually broke up with him. If in a relationship, the passion, love, and understanding is lost, the relationship will fall.

Because people seem to fall in love so frequently, the key to a good relationship is communication and happiness. In the poem "O.C.D" by Neil Hilborn he states, "She loved that I had to kiss her goodbye sixteen timesor twenty four times if it was a Wednesday." This shows that they are so deeply in love which means they are happy and want to be with each other for as long as they can. Hilborn also states ,"When she said she loved me, her mouth would curl up at the edges." This proves that he pays attention and appreciates the little things she does. To sum it all up ,when people seek to find love they have to be willing to do everything for that person ,because "like" and "love" are two very distant words.

Although we are only children, parents have high expectations for their kids. They expect them to do well in anything because soon enough they will have lives of their own, and they should know everything like the back of their hand. In "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid the author states, "Dont squat down to play marbles--you are not a boy , you know." This quote means that the mother knows the "rules" as a woman or female and is trying to teach her daughter each and every simple thing that will be useful for her in the future. According to the mother, a lady is usually doing chores at home, cooking, chewing respectfully, not talking to boys, etc. 'Til this day the expectations remain the same for women, along with men.

In the poem "O.C.D" by Neil Hilborn he says " love is not a mistake, and it's killing me that she can run away from this and i just can't ." This means he was still doing everything he could to keep the love alive meanwhile she just walked away like nothing was ever there. This quote means that he still continued to do the same things he continued to give her the same love and attention but it just wasn't enough for her. She didn't wait for him at first she would find everything he did nice and she would be okay with it but when she couldnt take it anymore she stopped putting the effort she left.

In the poem Ocd by Neil Hilborn, the author says "She was the first beautiful thing i got stuck on." That proves that he had found a common interest with her and wanted to be with her forever. This qoute means that Hilborn was stuck on her. She was the first thing he got stuck on, and we was in love with her. But she just wasnt as in love with him, and in the end she left. The qoute proves that common intrest in a realtioship is needed to surive, the realtionship didnt surive because she had no common intrest with him she only licked his ticks but she later got annoyed of them.

In the poem by O.C.D by Neil Hilborn, the author states that "She loved that I had to kiss her goodbye sixteen times or twenty-four time...". This shows that the girl loves it when the guy shows love by kissing her. By doing this it helps to keep love alive between the two of them. This way, both can live happily for as long as they show love.

According to the passage "Girl" by Jamacia Kincaid it states " wash the white clothes on Monday and put them on stone heap; wash the color clothes on Tuesday and put them on clothesline to dry" this indicates that just because u are a female you are expected to wash and house keep. In the article titled "Except from the Glass Castle" by Jeannette Wall the author states "You want to help me change my life?" Mom asked "I'm fine you're the one who needs help. Your values are all confused." This means that Jeannette is trying to change her parents but her parents dont want to change. This proves that that we owe our parents happiness and we should be with them in any decisions they make in their life. We should accept them for who they are and the way they think and not try to change our parents decisions. Many people believe that we dont owe our parents anything. However the truth is that we do owe something to our parents.

Since most parents accept who their children are, children should do the same and accept who their parents are. This is true because some parents don't want to be judged by their kids. In the text “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls it states “ Your father and I are who we are. Accept it” This means that the mother is telling her daughter to deal with her mother and father's actions and just embrace who they are. This proves that something that children owe their parents is to accept them for who they are because they don't want to change, like how the daughter’s parents are in a situation where they don't want to live differently however, the daughter does. Many people believe that the only thing that children owe their parents is love.

When you want to keep the love alive , you have to be caring about each other. Another thing is if u want to keep the love alive , you have to love each other for who they are. In this poem on O.C.D the author said " the first time I saw her , evrything in my head went quiet ." This quote means that when he first saw her , he fall in love with her for who she was and how they was she acted.

If one is trying to keep love alive, then the girlfriend and boyfriend need to have the same love towards each other. In the poem it says"some mornings I'd start kissing her goodbye but she'd just leave cause I was making her late to work". This supports my claim because they din't have the same love towards each other.

The effects of the high expectations that parents put on their children are being preasured stressed and frustrated .Girls byJamica Kincaid was being told that in the furture she will turn out as a slut if she dosen't try . The evidence supports my claim because she being preasured to good and not turn out like her mom. Then her mom tells her ''you need to know how to do bread pudding, this is how to make pepper pot , this is how you make doukonn . So the mom is telling her she should know how to cook ,set up the table and do more.
