I believe that we have to use technology to support teaching. At some point we must also teach our students that technology does amazing things for in our lives but it is not the only way we learn. I think too many times people just assume that today's students cannot learn without technology. I personally believe that if you took students outside of technology and taught them with no technology, just with hands on training, they would absorb just as much. This is an interesting article that I have linked.

Gosh, good hard question. I'm not too worried about my children, or my students, becoming too "dependent" on technology. A this point, technology IS so pervasive that it is ubiquitious with life. However, how do we make sure students use technology to LEARN and not just "data gather"? I believe that's the harder question. High quality projects and assignments -- that's the key to meaningful learning. There's no real effort anymore in compiling research and making a "report" -- that happens quickly for students today. But what we as teachers ask them to do with that information is the key.

I feel like that's a very valid question. Teaching with

technology can be such a valuable asset in a classroom,

but teaching students to understand boundaries can

be tough. Most kids in our society rely so heavily on

technology these days, that it might further enable

their dependence on technology in the classroom.
