Reflection

During these first five weeks of practice, I experienced several significant situations. First, it was my first time teaching in second grade; therefore, I had difficulty at times keeping order in the classroom, but even though the students were encouraged during the activities, they participated actively. Doing activities such as hot potato helped me identify students' preferences for more active and engaging activities. Second, during week 3, I did a play entitled "The Vain Little Mouse". This type of activity was meaningful because it helped me to approach my students with a fun activity that helped them learn English as well. Third, planning is a bit tedious because it is difficult to adapt activities to a population type, but it leaves me with a lot of experience, because I always learn something new in the process, I always think about activities that my students will enjoy and learn, so, when I started my practicum, I realized how important it is to know the group's preferences. Finally, visiting the Biblioteca del Banco de la República was a beautiful experience, because I learned about teaching, especially in primary school. The type of materials that you can get to achieve a better education for students. Overall, although I had difficulties maintaining order in my classroom, I try every day to create a fun environment while maintaining respect and authority.

PD. The activity was mainly carried out in Spanish, since the central objective was to reinforce reading and writing in this language, following the instructions of the in-service teacher. However, expressions and elements in English were used to encourage exposure to L2, especially during dictation and when writing the date in English.

During the last weeks, I experienced several significant moments, but the most meaningful one was the classroom presentation. It was the moment when I recognized all the effort I had devoted to my students, not only to help them learn specific content, but also to contribute to the construction of their worldview and to show them how they can learn through English and connect it to their own context.

Finally, during this last week, I said goodbye to them and to the in-service teacher. It was a very emotional moment in which they also acknowledged my effort, making the culmination of this process even more special. This marks the first step in both my professional and personal journey.
