Beyond them seeing me from the comfort of my home and using the chat feature as if we're all in a giant group text, I do frequent check ins with mood meter forms, etc and find many of my students are not doing so well with quarantine. After SBS I was very mindful of everything I would say in the classroom. Perhaps because I was looking for it, I was very attuned to the way adults in the building spoke to/about students even if I didn't quite yet understand the effect it could have on identity the way I do now. But, co-teaching in general is challenging when people have not been trained or educated on pedagogy and practice in the same manner/quality as this program. That includes other subs sites and universities in the program as I work with another fellow, shout out to LIU. We faced family deaths, hospitalizations, loss of friends, uncertainty about our world, ourselves even.
