The specific theme I see is simply segregation within social classes and how people treat others differently based on that fact. Social classes are usually based on who you're related to or how much money you invest. The bigger the house, the better the people. At least that's what some upper class opinions are. Even if someone is raised or different from you, no one should be treated as if they are lower than anyone else. This quote was the final showing of Rosaura that her mother was right all along. She was treated as an employee more than a guest and was paid for being there.
