Hi! My name is Chealse Tungal, 21 years of age—currently 2nd year BS PSY student at Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao. I like to read Wattpad stories, listen to music, and watch movies. I have so much interest in music because it changes my mood and for me that’s a very important factor for my everyday life. I also like Philippine movies, namely Imagine You and Me starring Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards. Also, the movies that Nadine Lustre and James Reid because I am fan of them. Next, entertainment especially the “It’s showtime” and “Eat Bulaga: Kalye Serye” it was my favorite noon time show in the television because it gives me laughter and a good way to spend time with family sharing laughs. Festivals as Philippine Pop Culture, as my family is really devoted to our Saint, we always celebrate Festivals like a feast. This was a great time to have some gossips with your relatives that you saw just once in a while. We would always prepare many food to share to our visitors and even neighbors. Lastly, we all know how delicious sinigang is and honestly it is my favorite food in the whole Philippine dish.

Ben&Ben's music blends elements of folk, pop, and rock, creating a unique sound that resonates with a wide audience. Their songs often feature acoustic guitars, violins, percussions, and lush vocal harmonies. The band's lyrics are deeply emotional and introspective, touching on themes such as love, loss, hope, and self-discovery. This emotional depth and relatability have endeared them to many fans, making their music a staple in the OPM landscape. My favorite songs of this band are "The Ones We Once Loved" by Ben&Ben is a poignant song that delves into the bittersweet memories of past relationships, exploring themes of forgiveness, moving on, and cherishing the good moments. The heartfelt lyrics and soothing melodies make it a relatable and emotional listening experience. "Leaves," on the other hand, is a comforting song that talks about resilience and healing, using the metaphor of falling leaves to symbolize challenges and growth. Both songs showcase Ben&Ben's talent for creating music that deeply resonates with listeners, making them my favorites.

Music is my favorite pop culture. Original Pilipino Music (OPM) encompasses various genres and styles of music created by Filipino artists, often sung in Tagalog or other Philippine languages. OPM has evolved over the decades, reflecting the country's rich cultural heritage and contemporary influences. From folk and rock to pop and hip-hop, OPM captures the diverse musical tastes and creative expressions of the Filipino people. Iconic artists like Freddie Aguilar, Regine Velasquez, and Sarah Geronimo have significantly contributed to the popularity of OPM, making it a vital part of Philippine pop culture. But my favorite one is the Ben&Ben band which I mentioned in the previous one.

The Uses and Gratifications Theory, which focuses on why and how people actively seek out specific media to satisfy particular needs, is particularly relevant in understanding the impact of OPM on Filipino society. OPM influences social interactions and community building. Songs often become shared experiences that bring people together, whether through karaoke sessions, concerts, or social media. The lyrics and themes of OPM songs often resonate with listeners, sparking conversations and creating a sense of unity among fans. This collective engagement enhances social cohesion and cultural solidarity. Talking about favorite OPM songs can start conversations and make people feel closer. OPM not only makes people feel good but also helps build a strong sense of Filipino identity and unity.

Using the Uses and Gratifications Theory, we can understand why people love Ben&Ben's music. This theory looks at why people choose certain media to meet their needs. For many Filipinos, Ben&Ben's music provides comfort and a way to deal with their feelings. For example, "The Ones We Once Loved" talks about the pain of letting go of someone important. Listening to this song helps people who are going through similar experiences feel understood and less alone.

Ben&Ben's music also brings people together. Songs like "Leaves," which speaks about healing and hope, are often shared at gatherings or on social media. Singing along to these songs can create a sense of community and shared experience. Additionally, their music reflects Filipino values and experiences, helping listeners feel connected to their culture and heritage. Through their songs, Ben&Ben not only entertains but also helps people connect, heal, and celebrate their identity as Filipinos.
