Here's a sneak peak at one of my paragraphs where I talk about a track from the album.

I find that the album’s single “Don’t Take the Money” is certainly one of Bleachers best songs yet through its use of disjunct melody, bass register, and dynamics. The disjunct melody is very evident in this song from how far apart the intervals are with the slow beat leading into the quick drums and sounds that really causes the song to sort of explode with its loudness from the quietness that preceded it. Antonoff actually uses a bass register when the song is nearly 3/4ths of the way through, he uses it do directly address the listener, which helps given that previous to this moment in the song he’d been using his regular voice so this really draws the listener’s attention to what exactly he’s saying. Antonoff really knows how to use his dynamics very well, here there’s a constant roller-coaster of switching between being very quiet to then quite loud which sounds perfect throughout the song and keeps the listener very into what is being performed. This song also has an interesting use of “Repetition” (Ratliff, 13), which Ratliff describes as “A way to make you focus on all that is in fact nonrepetitive,” (Ratliff, 14). In this song, there’s a repetitive drum beat when Antonoff is singing prior to the main chorus which makes us focus on what he’s singing rather than the beat, but when the main chorus is reached there’s an explosion of beat with Antonoff now repeating the main chorus over and over again. This creates a cool balance which causes the listener to focus on two different aspects of the song throughout listening to the song.

"The best pop music is the songs that a group of people can dance to, but you can also listen to in your bed and cry. That's something obviously that The Beatles started and... so having that darkness there opens another door," Jack Antonoff.
