Initially, the animals on Animal Farm had a vague idea of what they needed to do in order to form a fair society. Instead, they reverted back to their old ways almost immediately and learned nothing. We need to hold people accountable for their actions. Our soon-to-be Vice President, Kamala Harris used to be a very well-known prosecutor who built her reputation on the backs of incarcerated black, brown, and poor people. She fought to keep people imprisoned even after they were proved to be innocent, and many many other contradictory statements. In the beginning of Animal Farm, Old Major explains to the other animals that they are a part of a system that treats them as if their disposable. He continues that all animals are given the bare amount of food and care needed, and are overworked to their last breaths. Also, he describes that once an animal's use is no more, then the human beings will slaughter that animal to "make room" for new units, thus, elaborating the concept that all animals are, indeed, treated as nothing but disposable units that humans can use for their own benefits. Old Major ends with the saying that an animal's life is miserable and slavery, and that it is 'the plain truth.' Its quite depressing, really. This is no different in today's time. Particularly, Donald Trump sees Americans as this. He and Napoleon are the same exact being. In Animal Farm, ever since Napoleon had came into power after driving off Snowball, the farm animals have been plunged into starvation and despair. Napoleon had shut himself away in his lavish home living in luxury and comfort, while the other farm animals are left to fend for themselves with a bare minimum of food, poor living conditions, and unenthusiastic work. Furthermore, another thing I'd like to point out are the sheep in Animal Farm. Politics-wise, the sheep represent the type of followers who'll shutdown anyone who'll protest or complain about a certain something about a certain person. A real life example of this is Trump supporters for their impulsive nature towards anyone who state negative things about Donald Trump. In Animal Farm, there's the excerpt, "On the contrary, it was he who had advocated it in the beginning, and the plan which Snowball had drawn on the floor of the incubator shed had actually been stolen from among Napoleon's papers. The windmill was, in fact, Napoleon's own creation." This excerpt explains how in reality, when two opposing groups are arguing one of the leaders may paint the other as the 'villain' in order to manipulate the majority in supporting them. I've seen this many times in real life, specifically with Donald Trump and his supporters. At the middle of Animal Farm, Clover is filled with undeniable sadness after realizing that she and the farm animals' current states at Animal Farm is not what they had originally envisioned during the Rebellion. Instead, they had hoped for a society of animals where everyone was treated equally, not disposable units; a society where no bloodshed and slaughter was common; a society where no lies and hatred had existed; and a society where the social hierarchy would be equal to all the animals (No such thing as the elite and the poor, everyone lived equally, ate equally, etc.). However, the animals have now driven off that path, and are being controlled by the fears of Napoleon and his 9 deadly dogs, and have been forever traumatized after witnessing their animal friends' throats being torn out after confessing to shocking crimes. This can be related to our country's current state. In political terms, those who have voted for Trump in 2016 thought he would bring prosperity and peace to our country; however, that proved to be entirely false throughout the years. Now, we stand in a pandemic, political crisis, and face terrorism from our own. Clover cries because she realized that she and the animals have thought to have brought about peace and change throughout the years, when in fact, they had replicated the same tyrannism and despair (Napoleon and the pigs) that Jones had ruled upon them when he was in power of the farm. Ultimately, the only way we as a society can prevent from becoming the animals in Animal Farm, according to Orwell's overall message for all societies, is that we as human beings should learn to behave better, avoid political abstractions, prevent violence/abuse of any kind, and learn for the benefit of societies for the enduring future ahead. Orwell had believed that art should be used in helping society grow into a more fair, respectful, and intelligent mass (which Animal Farm was provided for us to learn by). Moreover, our political representatives need to understand that they are no different than us ordinary citizens (Gavin Newsom for example). Our beliefs in this country must be viewed equally and respected, except if it is hostile. For example, beliefs in Qanon or other things that may include violence, abuse of any kind, harm, or insults are NOT correct beliefs, and people who hold these beliefs must change them. The thing is, we all have our own beliefs; they may be similar, they may be extremely different; but if your beliefs include violence or harm, then those beliefs are indeed wrong, and you must change them, regardless. I actually have some relatives of my own who are pro Trump-supporters (something I'm extremely embarrassed by) who try to enforce their beliefs onto others, which is an unacceptable thing to do, in my opinion (I am neither Democratic nor Republican; I do not associate myself with either political party. My political views are based upon facts, what's right, and things that are proven to be true by evidence).

Ultimately, to avoid the fate of animal farms we must collectively come together but we must also set boundaries. The mistake the animals made was that they put too much trust in one another. One must remember that the greatest friend of man can also be an enemy. The animals made themselves vulnerable to the point where it’d be seamlessly easy for the pigs to take over. Although we must have leaders to represent the people, those leaders must be held accountable for all their actions. It’s because of such simple reasons such as this that there has never been a successful communist society. We as people must come together but we must also keep each other in check. The animals had an amazing intention by starting their communist farm but they did not execute it well enough. And it’s because of such things that it’s so easy for our leaders to commit blatant abuses of power. World leaders such as the president of the United States are inciting violence and encouraging the people to commit active treason for the simple reason that they did not get their way. The people will always disagree because we all have our own sets of opinions and it’s what makes us all unique. In the book animal farm, Orwell made a character named Frederick. He is one of the farmers and Orwell made him to represent Adolf Hitler. Everyone knows Hitler abused his power to a devastating extent. In the book Frederick was a cruel man but yet the pigs decided to side with them for their own benefits not caring of the danger they were putting the all other animals in. At the Capitol raid we saw a lot of Nazis that were trying to protect their favorite white supremacist to stay in office. This reminds me a lot of the part where the pigs were playing poker with the humans, it's like Trump is playing poker with the Nazis (this is a metaphor). I mean how did they not die? Honestly I feel like I would have been safer raiding the US Capitol with a bunch of Nazis then I would have been at a black lives matter protest. I say this because I see the animals in the book as the people who support black lives matter and fight for equality. I see the humans in the book as Hitler maybe even Trump, and the selfish pigs are not just the people who stormed the capital but the people that share the same opinion / morals as them. is it really a big surprise that people who would have chosen to stand with Hitler if they were around during toughs devastating times are the same ones siding with trump? no not really. To avoid having another terrible dictator, we must get him out of office.

This is why I selected Kim Jong-Un as a leader in today's time that is abusing his power in a corrupted way. A woman named Yeonmi park who at the time of escaping was a little girl came out and spoke to the media about what it really is like escaping North Korea. She also explained how she could have absolutely no contact with family members in North Korea because if they were to be caught talking to her that they would all get executed or punished.
