This is focused on the looking ahead bullets, but rather than think about my work in those 4 (3 for me) buckets, I am trying to think work that touches on all of them simultaneously and creates a mutually supportive system. For me, I have 3 buckets (which should all support effective and equitable implementation of LI):

1. Working with cohorts of STLS to a)build mathematical content knowledge, b) build (knowledge of) effective teaching practices, c) build coaching & facilitation using the previous two areas

2. Assessment Strategy: working both on a) vision, beliefs and systems at the regional/district level, and b)incorporating effective data analysis, particularly around building mathematical knowledge of student work into the STL cohort learning

3. Equity & Black Excellence: Interwoven into all of the above by a)naming it in content and practices, b) emphasizing coaching for equity in mathematics, and c) centering race and equity in all areas of work

I feel guilty about not doing as much work with leaders/in schools right now. But I need to be ok with that and instead really focus my time on setting up the conditions for my work next year. This means involving stakeholders, working with central supports, and gathering data in order to have the systems in place so that my north star work can happen next year. Maybe I need to spend time brainstorming obstacles.

1. Work with various leaders and teams to create structure and expectations for STL improvement cohorts (what gets taken off of their plate??). This will require creating a working group of leaders and soliciting their input around various options
2. WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT ASSESSMENT. I am working on making a crosswalk of assessments and identifying their purpose and the types of data that they offer. We need to articulate our beliefs about assessment, be clear on the purpose of various assessments, and then make a plan to have both expectations and education for leaders

I think we all are amazing, talented people who have a lot to offer, and who also have a thirst to learn! I know that ISs don't always have the time to coach us, but what if we created our our little PLCs or coaching partnerships. We could each think about areas where we would like to grow, and areas where we have something to offer to others, then create quarterly coaching partnerships where each person is coaching one other, and being coached by one other in different areas. This could mean giving feedback on facilitation, planning and debriefing coaching meetings, working on strategic plans, etc together.

Will need to be specific with the key actions and workstreams in the Early Lit plan in order to allow time for planning and reflection for next year. Creating and delivering content from scratch is time consuming as is completing all the CDE modules. I would like to make sure there is time to firm up the resources we started this year so that they are ready and usable by the end of May. I would like to have time to brainstorm some of the structures that will deepen the early lit work across classrooms and roles in SW schools.

Prioritize: Help school leaders (alongside RAIS/RIS) to analyze their BOE that they currently have (Weekly Foundational Skills Checks, CORE Phonics Survey, iStation, and Heggerty EOY assessment) to practice with this analysis & inform next year's strategic planning over the summer in order to hit the ground running in August.
3.
