I had participate to a workshop from Microsoft about MinecraftEdu few years ago and I was excited about it. But you have to paid (it's no free) and you must have Windows10 installed on computers. Those two requirements make it impossible for me to use Minecraft in my public schools. It's really sad :-(

I could see myself using Minecraft only if the game is free of charge. If the game could be downloaded to a computer, because Internet connection is not very fast in my classroom. Some of my students play Minecraft at home, they like the game very much. I have to educate myself first and find out more about the game and its benefits.

As a mother, maybe I have too many prejudices against Minecraft, not because my children spend so much time playing but because I do not like the graphics. Otherwise, I must recognise that is a good tool to plan, design and create their own "world". Apart from that, if you ask them to share it, it's amazing how two children that usually argue about almost everything, work together and complement each other's ideas.
Anyway, as a language teacher, I do not know if I could take any benefit for my classes.

My students could practice giving commands and instructions to each other while using Minecraft. They could create streets, buildings, monuments, different stores and mark them in German. They could also talk about situations, objects or characters or write about them in order to improve German language skills. I definitely could see myself using Minecraft in the future.

Before entering this wave, I need to know what this educational game is and... from what I've been seeing in this point 3.3, using it will give a lot of work, because it will be necessary to learn to play and to master the other tools dedicated to the teacher( as in all the new ones) but in this case, I do not think it is profitable. It isn´t something that can replace everything that is normally taught. So, to the first impact, I think it will not be very useful in my disciplines.

I have never played Minecraft but I could see my using it. First, of course, I have to explore the game myself to figure out how could I integrate it into my teaching. I just hope it's free of charge! The first that comes to my mind is to use it like some kind of Escape Room version, or for Vocabulary revision (in order to follow the instructions, students have to learn the key words first). However, like I have said, I have to explore the game myself first.

I've never played Minecraft but my son has, so I've seen what it looks like. For now, it's difficult for me to imagine teaching with such a game, the most important reason being that our classrooms don't look like the ones in the video, if we're lucky, we have only one laptop in the classroom and that's it. I teach English and such a thing would really be a refreshment, but as I teach 17 and 18-year olds, I'm not sure how it would fit into my teaching concept :-)

Most often to explain / use geometry notions, but also to discover how to build / build a house for scientific incursions into ocean water ..... I have never tried to use Minecraft in my lessons. I don't have an opportunity to use it because most of the schools in my country are not equipped with IT gadgets. In my project-based transdisciplinary teaching last year the children had to choose one final project in which they would illustrate all their knowledge aquired in the lessons before. So 2 groups chose Minecraft; one group did a Minecraft Hotel; a hotel between the earth and the moon. The other group did a Mars Station in Minecraft. Both of the groups had a lot of collaboration, all the decisions on how making the things had been discussed in the group. The children respected the physical elements of space; they build for example a oxygen-producing machine; or solar panels to gaine some energy. It was really interesting, and they did really good work. They managed it together; I was in the role of a coach. In this year the other students build up a farmerhouse in the year 2222. As all of our students have an access (free) to Minecraft Education it is ideal to put it into classroom.

Few days ago, I find out that boys in mine preschool group play minecraft at home, six of them play. They've been talking to me about the game and I didn’t understand anything. Minecraft? I don't see how I could use it for teaching french and italian. Foreign languages are special, we need to speak more and althought I try to gamify my lessons, I need direct communication. For any game in the classroom we need a computer for every student, if only one student has a computer and others watch while he/she plays, it will be boring for everybody. For instance, we don't have computers for everyone. But I will keep this idea in mind ;-) I'm grateful for every suggestion, that's why I'm here

I would use Minecraft to develope social and emotional skills, too. When children work together on the same project, they have to pay attention of their idea, proposal, action, can be pertinent to the general design they are developing. That means to understand what they are doing, to understand collaborators' will and intentions, to overcome egocentrism, to develop self-control, empathy, respect. They can learn cooperative - learning in the virtual world and then they can practise It in the real world, when they are children and when they will be adults.

I have never played this game before so my experience is zero even I would like to try it. I think that first I need to know about it, even my students know perfectly, and then look for the right activity and do it in class.

frankly I have not tried to use this tool minecraft, first I must have a very thorough training on the basics and techniques of this program, then I will be very interested to invite my students to mobilize it in their learning and their classes. Unfortunately, I have never played Minecraft or used it during my course. Our classrooms are not equipped with computers therefore I only implement games that are reachable via mobile phone. I could integrate Minecraft as a way of revising the lesson, for example, students must give a correct answer to a question regarding the lesson; the correct answer allows them to move on with the game.

From what I realized, to access Minecraft we need a 365 account but only to have a trial version. Then I suppose we have to pay and I don’t think it’s possible because of the school budget. The game seems super interesting to develop the creativity and give life to the characters that students construct in their narratives or stories. They could eventually create one true city per class or per year. For example, students in class 7A would each build their own home but should obey the structure of the neighbourhood they chose for the class (villas, buildings), as would other classes. Then they built the commercial and leisure spaces, decide where to put schools, hospitals, rubbish bins, parking lots .... This would force them to reflect not only in their home but also in the infrastructures of a city. And they should argue in French, but it would also be interesting to see what Paris was like before (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-64kHmCJGMA) and even think about the city of the future in order to solve environmental problems. It would be very good but it would be necessary that the ICT colleagues and other colleagues would help. It could be a class project and curriculum articulation.

Well, this is an easy Activity. When you land in Minecraft Edu home page you are told “teach Math - explore Coding - Experiment with Chemistry - Explore a world of learning”. As you move to “explore a world of learning” you get the suggestions of lesson plans that you can see in the screen capture below. What is evident is the total absence of Performing Arts. One can find some Music Coding, but it is so musically poor like it was programming Music with 4 turtles in Logo back in 1990.

I am going to use Minecraft for the first time as an assessment of our Unit ( Cities develop and change over time). In the end of the unit students will make their own city.

Well, I have a technical problem at my school because there is only 1 computer in each classroom and wi-fi connection is rather unstable. In addition, some of my older students (17-18) have outgrown playing videogames, and some others have never been interested in them in the first place so I don't think playing Minecraft is much of an option right now.

The explanation I've watched for its use in classrooms was really interesting and I think I could use it in my classes. For instance, to work on house vocabulary. Personally, I don't like Minecraft, but it is my personal preference. If I had to use it, I would rather use it as a cyber environment where I could communicate with my students and set up quests for them. To be honest, I'd rather use more traditional games or something that is more sophisticated. Besides, in our country Minecraft is considered a game for children, and it would be difficult to get the high-school students really interested and serious about playing it.

My students have used minecraft in History projects before. They have created Worlds that adapted to show Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron age changes. However this was completed outside of school.

I could see myself using Minecraft. Pupils could use Minecraft for exploring different types of buildings and rooms in buildings. I've never played Minecraft or ever used this game in the classroom context yet, I did some research on the capabilities of Minecraft. I realized that it is possible to use it in many ways. For example, we can can use Minecraft to develop spatial orientation. We can also use this game to exploring basic geometric concepts of area and perimeter. The exploration of these concepts also allows students to establish relationships between area and perimeter.
Building from blocks makes it possible to create activities involving geometric solids, the notion of quadrilaterals, ....
It will be a very motivating and captivating lesson

Yes. Since my work is on the linguistic area and the best way to learn a foreign language is by having fun and feeling it, and the presenter said on the YouTube video: “play the game, it´s just to get the feeling how it works (…) and then let students play the game.” This same principle happens when you are learning a foreign language, you use that language as a tool, you discover how many options and nuances and even divergencies exist if you want to have a literal version in your mother tongue. You discover options to express your thoughts with a logic that you never imagine, because it is foreign, but you welcome it and accept it, by knowing first through this game, that that way of speaking, or expressing personal thoughts and feelings exist. And your cultural awareness is cultivated. I would have my students share the excitement in Spanish, so the version we would play would be in Spanish.

Sometimes we use Minecraft to improve my students' reading and writing skills. Students must start Minecraft by answering a series of question. I give them a few game sessions to come up with the following about the world they are creating:

Who are the characters in your made-up world?

What is the setting?

What is the sequence of events the characters followed to reach wherever they are by the end of the session? Discuss why you collaborated with others in surviving this world. What others add to your success?

Describe a new approach you used in your play that you haven't used before. I want to see their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving in action.

I have never played Minecraft even as a mother I don't presented this game to my kid. Maybe my project will start at home and observing what happens if I let my son play it.
Actually, I think it would be super difficult to implement with my students because my students get a computer when they are in 5th level and my students are younger.
I believe that Minecraft could improve reading and writing skills, but I have no idea.

My secondary students have mentioned Minecraft, they have played it a lot. As an English teacher I can think of some ideas to integrate Minecraft into my English classes. For example, they could invent dialogues between the characters with special purposes such as reaching an agreement or making arrangements. I could also give this assigment: after playing the game for a while, they had to explain what they have done: if they have built something special, or created any structure in particular...also the enemies they have found...as a story. Then we could vote the most original "Minecraft story".

I haven't used Minecraft in the classroom because we don't have the necessary resources. However after speaking to students who play it I see that their level of English tends to be higher than those who don't play. If I could use it, the kids could build their world, and tell about it in English, expanding their vocabulary and giving others directions on how to avoid the monsters and traps.

I met minecraft thanks to my students, who told me about it and then showed it to me. I looked at both the purely playful and the educational versions. I think it can be very useful for learning and I plan to use it: I would like to ask students to reconstruct the school and class in minecraft, give some lessons about mincraft and assign them homework, such as creating and managing a garden. In this way I could let the students of the first class learn the vegetable kingdom. They could collaborate in the same garden, accumulate badges depending on whether they manage to make the plants bloom properly, proving to know the importance of the climate and the consequences on the vegetation of our actions.

Googlind Minecraft edu I noticed the education version was created by a team in Finland! : ) I think pupils would love to work on the programme, building, playing, chatting etc. In cooperation with a classteacher it would be an interesting way of teaching English, too. Some of the building and creating could be done during some other lesson, and some - especially with vocabulary and chatting - in the English lessons. Or we could combine our lessons into a several-lessons unit and teach together at the same time - even better. The pupils could learn a lot of vocabulary by playing.

My son has let me "play" Minecraft twice, but I was so bad and clumsy with those building blocks, so I gave up. If I decide to let students play Minecraft or a similar game in the classroom, I will ask them to teach me, they will like the idea of teaching me. When we learn new English vocabulary, my students tell me quite often that they remember some words from Minecraft.

Yes, I did because Minecraft is an enjoyable game which develop creativity and an open mind. It is useful to transform students in inventors, a sort of engineers who build something new or simply students with collaborate talking with other students in a virtual word in order to reach an aim.

I think, it's time to try!
As teacher of foreign languages I could try to introduce this tool for building "a virtual space" in which students can be kept in touch with the language of the environment they build.
They could create some story or explain a project.

Being an informatic teacher I could easily use Minecraft in my classroom for pupils solving problems or making something or create a cool place or even a world. I was in one education about useing Minecraft in class and it was really fun and usefull. I must write that in every generation of pupils there is one that draw on computer a square tree. Although the pupils in our country now passionately play Fortnite.

I saw some of my sts playing minecraft, but I haven't tried it yet. As soos as possible I will look and try to apply to my lessons.

It is a well-known learning tool used to teach Mathematics, History, Art, Physics or almost any other subject.
