The chapter starts off with the waking of Lisa . Her mother is calling for her father, meanwhile she hears a buzz constantly in her ear. She thinks it is a dream but when she goes downstairs she realizes what that buzzing was. Her father goes down to her and puts his arm around her shoulder as they look out of the window of their apartment looking at the rising sun coming out of the water. But then a shadow appears and as they look up it is an airplane flying low so the people of Denmark, their home country in their city Copenhagen can clearly see their markings. The markings where of Nazis Germany and they realize what is happening and it is what they have been dreading. It is an invasion of their country Denmark after a quick surrender and barely a fight being put up to their invaders. Her brother finally enters the dining room and when her mother tells him the news he cries out mad at his country for their quick surrender. They are listening to the radio hearing the news from their government saying that things will remain the same written by their new invaders in terrible Danish. Stefan and Lisa start to go to school after Lisa's dad tells Stefan to protect his sister. They meet up with their cousin Erik who has a completely different view on the situation around them as they walk with German soldiers parading the street with guns waiving in the air. Erik states that he thinks that everything will remain normal just as the government said and that all they have to do is keep their noses clean and stay out of trouble to survive. Stefan gets mad at Erik and trips him because of a joke he made about the invasion. Stefan continues walking, finally meeting up with his friends. Lisa finally arrives at school to her teacher trying to address the class, almost crying until she eventually gives in and breaks down into tears. Lisa is talking to Susanne about how they are going to kill the Germans when now she realizes that if she wants to do that she has to make her own chances and opportunities to do it.

This chapter starts off with Lisa hearing her parents talking as she is trying to get some desired sleep because of the sleepless nights she had before because her mind was racing and only thinking about the Germans and the invasion around her. As she continues eavesdropping on the conversation she finally finds out what they are talking about. We learn through dialogue that Lisa fathers is having to treat the soldiers who participated in taking control of his country and hurting the people of his country. The father really does not want to do that but the reality is that if he does not do it he will be send of to a concentration camp because he is Jewish whom the Nazis did not like. Later on Lisa's family start preparing for Passover and they invite Erik's family to Seder dinner who are the only family in Copenhagen of Lisa's. They also invite the Knudsen as they are passing around the herbs. Stefan starts a conflict at the table saying that what is happening to them now is what happened to them before as Jewish people in Egypt a long time ago this starts a fight. Erik's father tells Stefan that he is wrong and this causes havoc and continues the fight. Lisa realizes that Passover isn't the same now because all people could think about were the Nazis and Lisa becomes mad at everyone and everything around her. She starts eavesdropping again and comes up with a solution to her fathers issue and that is to "treat" them but don't help them with their issues that they came to him for. He must be kind though to make them think as if he is. Her mother adds to this idea and the father proclaims that he has an oath to medicine and this starts a moral conflict among Lisa's father on whether to treat them and follow his oath or to protect his country. After some consideration Lisa's father says that he will but not enough to kill them just to put them out of work for a bit. She goes up to bed after her father tells her to not make a habit of staying up late when it dawns on her. Could this simple idea hurt someone and she realizes how careful she has to be now with something as simple as an idea now in her life.

1. In chapter one, the members of Lisa’s family have different reactions to the invasion of the Nazis. Describe their reactions. (4)

Stefan:

Stefan's reaction to the invasion was angry. This is clear when he says “Surrender but we barely fired a shot.” He is angry about the quick surrender of his home country Denmark and how they did not put up a fight against the foreign army.

Mother and Father:

They were worried about their safety and also the safety of their children in their new Nazis run country. This is especially difficult for them because the father is a doctor who has now been tasked with curing the Nazis soldiers whom he does not want to cure due to the causes of this invasion.

Erik:

Erik finds this invasion as something non threatening and something that will make a slight change and not a drastic one like the rest of the people. He thinks that the key is to just not do anything that could make the nazis angry and that they will all be ok.

Lisa:

She wants to help and thinks that it is her job to help out in any way that she can. The problem is that she is so young which makes everyone feel like she can’t do anything. But even though she wants to do all these heroic things, she is still scared and worried about how much things are going to change later.

2. In chapter two, what dilemma does Lisa’s father face? (2)

The dilemma that Lisa’s father faces is that he is a doctor and with the new invasion of Denmark he now has to treat German soldiers who have been hurt or injured. The father does not want to do this because he does not want to help out people who are hurting him. But when you become a doctor you must plead to an oath that you will treat anyone or anything that he can. The dilemma is will he listen to himself and help these soldiers or will he listen to the oath that he had when he entered his profession.
3. At the very end of chapter two, Lisa has an important realization about how much the war has changed things. What does she realize? Explain your answer. (2)

The realization is that now a simple thing such as an idea can get someone hurt or killed. And that this has changed for her because she realized with the new regulations that the invaders have put in place and she now realizes how drastic the punishments are now with everything for the smallest thing apart from before where nothing would happen with a bad idea instead of a slap on the wrist(basically nothing happening expect like a word of no that is not a good idea). She realizes how different her new life is going to be from the old and she will realize how with everything she will have to do she will have to think heavily before.

4. Why does Lisa decide to follow Stefan and Jesper? What does she discover? (2)

Lisa decided to follow Stefan and Jesper because she feels that she must do something to help out her people and the people who she cares about such as family and friends. She follows them to where they are going and to her how she can help out with what she believes they are doing which is helping out the rebels. After following them after school she discovers that she was right and that they were helping out the rebels by handing out pamphlets(Leaflets) to the people of the country to give out the real truth.

5. What “game” do Stefan and Lisa play with the Nazi soldiers? (1)

Stefan and Lisa play a game called chicken with the Nazis soldiers which is when they walk toward then and see who is going to pull out first referring to who is going to move out the way. Although Stefan has been hurt by this game from a soldier who knew what they were doing and hit Stefan with the butt of his rifle.

6. Name three things the Resistance has done to fight back against the Nazis. (3)

1. Giving out pamphlets to people to let out the real news

2. Blowing up factories to stop the production of materials the Nazis could possibly use during the war

3. Hosting a radio channel to talk about the real events of the war in other places without the sugarcoating(the lies) The Nazis are putting into these radio stations they have control over.

7. How does the Resistance “tell” the Danes the real news of the war? (2)

1. By the pamphlets they are giving out to the people on the streets

2. By making a radio station telling people about the real news

8. At the end of the chapter, Lisa is waiting anxiously for Stefan. Why? (1)

She wishes to talk to him about her joining the resistance of Danes in their city because she feels that she needs to help out her country who is in dire need of assistance due to the impacts the invasion of their country has been restraining the country to propaganda and other sorts of things in general that has been taken over by the Nazis.

The chapter starts off with Lisa being in school being bored and waiting for her opportunity to follow Jesper and Stefan after school after eavesdropping again on them hearing them talk about how the resistance does not want Jewish people out doing work because they are afraid that the Germans if the find a Jewish person doing work for the resistance that they will pin it on all Jewish people and convince other that they threaten Denmark. Stefan is mad about this because he feels that he is being put out of help for the resistance and that he will have to do what Jesper recommended which was help at the underground printing station. He proclaims that the Germans will find a way to put anything on the Jewish people and that they can just make up an excuse with no real evidence and people will buy it. Jesper tells Stefan that he is going to help him be able to do work for the resistance and that he will make people listen to him saying it was both of them or none of them helping out. Lisa figures that everyone is acting strange around her and that no one thinks that it is weird what they are doing like Lisa's father staying home from work later. We learn that it has been 6 months since the invasion of the Germans and that they are still parading and patrolling the streets everywhere. Lisa and Stefan play chicken with the soldiers to see who will move aside first except some of them don't like the game and don't move. Except with the special forces teams Stefan and Lisa don't chicken with them. Lisa realizes that she has to do more for the efforts of her country and with her age she feels that it is her duty. She wants to do things like the people who put leaflets on the street cars, tell people about the news on what the resistance is doing, how Norway fought well against German in the Navy area and how they made a dent in their navy and also joke and make fun of the Germans. Lisa starts to follow them and ends up at a park after walking with the other school kids walking home until it was eventually only them. She sees a man put a large package on the bench of the park after taking it out of a large winter coat even though it is November. She then sees Jesper and Stefan start shoveling the package contents into their coats which were also big winter coats. They then immediately walk away and go to an area where the street car was coming around and that is where they hopped on and where Lisa had to make the decision of to stay and lose them or go on the street car but maybe get caught following them. The street car eventually moves along leaving her with Stefan looking worried through the window at her . She realizes that she can catch up to the street car and makes a run for it. She makes it on and checks around for Stefan but can't find him until she looks out the window after hearing a tap on it to Stefan and Jesper laughing at her as she tries to insult them realizing that she is causing a scene and if she wants to yelp out she has to be more controlled. She gets off the next stop and goes home to read the letter that states that the resistance has made advancement and has blown up a factory. It also states to listen to the Free Denmark radio for more news. Meanwhile her mother is calling her telling her that she is home late. Her mother enters her room after permission given from Lisa and talks to her about how she does not want Lisa "walking alone" which was the excuse Lisa gave to her Mother without a friend so she won't be alone. She hops in her bed and waits for Stefan to come home so that she can convince him to let her help out with what he is doing and also so she can listen to the radio.

Chapter 4

Chapter 4 starts with Lisa's forcing Stefan to talk to her by pinning him in his room so that he can't go elsewhere. During the conversation Lisa's is convincing him to let her join but not do one of the secrets missions he does but only just anyway to help out and at the beginning threatens to do it herself and to talk to the resistance without his help if he does not let help her. Stefan is very worried about Lisa's joining the resistance and has to think long and hard about Lisa's pleas. Until he finally give and and tell her that he will tell the resistance that she can be trusted and also that she is a good runner. But he mentions that he might be letting their parents down by putting Lisa in such a dangerous position where she could be caught or killed. She reassures him that she will be safe and ok and he lets her know that the next day after dinner he will let her know his decision. The next morning Lisa and Erik are walking to school but when they arrive they see that a part of the school has been transformed into some sort of a prison with barbed wire around it. Inside they see scrawny and dirt men wearing prison uniforms on the other side. Erik tries to talk to them cycling through many different languages but none respond. Lisa give her lunch to a man on the other side but then a guard yells at her for giving them the food. She realized how lucky she is to be able to eat good and well unlike the men beside her. After that experience they go to the school where Mrs. Jenson right after they see her she tells everyone that they have to go to another school which is already full but she also says that school will be in session every other day from that point on. Lisa find the situation great because it mean less school but Erik is worried that it is going to affect his grades by having less opportunities to improve them. When they arrive they are a bunch of kids and the place is in complete chaos. They choose their seats with Susanne sitting behind Lisa and then Mrs. Jenson sends them off with a bunch of homework. Lisa gets home and is trying to eye down Stefan at the dinner table and when they finish Stefan heads to his room with Lisa right behind him. She asks about whether they let her in or not and Stefan responds with a yes and then he explains how she was to got to the laundromat at 3 pm ask for a specific laundry bag and then go on a couple streetcar dropping leaflets off at every stop. She then must bring home the family laundry and he tells her that she will do this every 2 weeks and on friday and her first is the upcoming friday.

Chapter 5

The friday of her start arrives and she leaves 5 minutes before 3 to make it there. We learn one thing about Lisa is that she has a bad stomach and it get upset quickly and often and it seemed right as she saw the old man behind the counter shocked to see her it started to act up. She takes deep breaths to try and calm it and then ask for Soren Sorensen's laundry the one Stefan told her to ask for. She then gains an alibi by getting them to agree that Lisa's is "volunteering to help after school at the laundromat." She heaves the padded stack of papers on her back and heads to the next streetcar. She begins to feel sacred and her stomach starts acting up meanwhile her heart is pounding due to the risk that some German soldier could show up on the streetcar and harass her and look in the laundry bag. She pays for the ride meanwhile breathing long, deep and slow to relax herself. She find and open seat with noone opposite to her. As she begins to take out a bundle of papers the streetcar stops to pick up more passengers. 2 Nazis soldiers enter the streetcar and sit right opposite to Lisa. She shoves the papers back into the bag and looks out the window to lower suspicions of the Nazis soldiers. They are now look at her and one whispers something to the other and they both start look at her up and down seeing what she is doing. She gets up thinking that it is close to the next stop and she needs to get off because her stomach but then the streetcar goes around a corner causing her to loose her balance lunging into the soldier puking all over them. They are both shocked meanwhile Lisa's is backing away to the door. They curse at her and one looks at the laundry bag Lisa is holding and he is mad because he thinks he knows what is inside of that bag as the streetcar is stopping. Lisa gets guided out the door by some random person meanwhile about 20 people are in-between her and the soldiers and the person guiding her out is telling her to go. She gets off and goes to the grass to finish puking but also to regroup meanwhile she is shaking, crying and realising the bad taste in her mouth. She wants to go home but she convinces herself to continue going to the next streetcar because of the people who basically saved her life but also because she can't go back on an empty bag because they people who stopped the soldiers want that information to be out there. She makes more trips on the streetcars leaving the papers behind her after she gets off and after a few more her bag is empty and she has to go back to drop off the bag. She takes a streetcar to the laundromat and drop off the bag getting money from the man at the front because of the money she is going to need to get on and off all those streetcars. She says goodbye and gets her family's real laundry. She explains how she is helping out at the laundromat and the mother buys it but Lisa is sure she is going to check but she knows that the men will back her up. After that night's dinner Stefan mentions Lisa to his room asks how it went. She tells him everything that happened including the throw up part which Stefan dies laughing to. Lisa joins in after saying it was not funny but then realizing how they must have had to walk around in those uniforms for ages before they got to take them off which gets her going to the point where they are both dying laughing on the floor. Lisa's mother and father peer through the door saying that they are glad that Lisa and Stefan can find something to laugh about. She thinks to herself if only they knew what they were laughing about.

The author is suggesting in the poem that war is a game of either friends or foe. He is suggesting that people in this war have basically been brainwashed to see everyone as a friend or a foe. This makes them not see the other person whom they are fighting as inhuman and just someone they have to shoot at. This makes them not realize the human inside of these people and how they both have the same goal and are fighting for the same thing which is what their country is telling them to do. It shows us how if these people were not at war they could have interacted with each other normally and without conflict. It shows us how these people are so similar in a lot of ways but still have to kill one another for a cause they did not get drafted for. Finally it shows us how much manipulation has been put on these soldiers almost to the point of brainwashing normal humans such as us telling them to shoot the foe who they claim is different when really they are alike and all normal humans not foe’s.

This chapter starts with Lisa and Stefan in their family apartment seeing their dad holding a bundle while shaking gently and meanwhile the baby whom their father is holding is crying. They give the baby some warm milk which the mother was heating up for it. We learn through dialogue that this baby is the baby who the father saved in the hospital by taking out of the mother's womb and helping it. Through more dialogue we learn that it has no relatives in close proximity to her location right now but she does have family out their but one an uncle can't be located and the grandparents are too old to make the long journey so as a result they are going to keep this baby girl until they can find someone to take care of it. The father mentions his conversation with the mother before the massacre that happened and she said that she wanted to name the baby Sarah so they decided to keep the name because that was the last thing the mother ever said to Lisa's father. The story then cuts to Lisa trying to sleep but then hearing a loud explosion that just hit their building. She then opens the black curtains to see what happened which she is not allowed to do. She does it anyway but then hears her mother scream for her to get away from there as Stefan now is pulling Lisa away from the window. Lisa then shuts off the light and returns to looking out the window this time Stefan is joining her. She then sees a fire around where Susanne lives and get's a bad feeling in her stomach but just plays it off to her overreacting. She then tries to go back to sleep like the others but she can't and just sits down. There then is a small light knock at the door and Lisa' feeling in her stomach gets worse and she feels that she does not want to see what is on the other side of that door. There is another knock and she finally heads to the door and opens it to see Susanne looking at her with no hair except a little burnt strain left, her clothes are torn up and she is full of blisters. Lisa begins to scream when Stefan puts a hand on her mouth and starts to slap her. While she is doing this her Father is bringing Susanne in his arms to Lisa's bed. Lisa finally stops screaming. Lisa's father gives Susanne a needle and that sends her unconscious. He is calling for an ambulance. Lisa wants to go but she can't, as stated by Stefan and her father. She stays there listening to what her mother thinks that happened, which was that the Germans blew up the dance hall because they were playing swing. Stefan and her father come home and her father says that Susanne will live but that her parents are both dead. She tries to cry but can't because of the extreme exhaustion she is experiencing.

This chapter starts off with Lisa's stuffing envelopes for the resistance, meanwhile embracing the new heat she is experiencing in this new season of time. We learn that gas is being rationed in the family so she is happy that she will no longer have to be cold while sitting there because they could only heat one area of the house. She still has to be careful with everything she does because of the Germans cracking down on any Danish person in the wrong. We learn that the country is finally taking action against the germans and are doing more to help their dire situation which is making the germans mad and making the danish pay which causes more and more rebellious actions. Susanne has run off with no information given to Lisa about her whereabouts. We learn that Sarah has been with the family for a year and half and has been picking up simple words she can say. Lisa is now 15 and her birthday passed with nothing new happening and we learn tha while Susanne has lost her interest in Erik who is stopping by on that day and is also constantly stopping in because he has now developed a liking to her. She is irritated about this but she does not have enough time to care but Lisa is still keen on liking Jesper. He even took her out for a day and they saw a funny performance of someone making fun of the Germans by pretending to salute their salute. She laughed and laughed. She after that dream then sees Susanne walk in with a gun explaining to Lisa how she had to shoot someone who was informing a gestapo officer about the resistance. She explains how Stefan and Jesper are dumping the body in the water so that the Germans won’t find out who did it. Lisa is speechless but after a bit more talking she then takes Susanne to a place where she puts the gun under a floorboard in Lisa’s closet while both of them are surprised to see more than one under there but then Susanne is grinning because she added hers to the collection. This is then conflicted about what to do and if she could shoot someone like Susanne just did. She thinks back to a close call on a mission with Stefan and Olaf and how she has to fake her appendix being bad meanwhile welding a gun under her sweater knowing that if it would have to come to that she would have to shoot. Lisa ends this dream by hearing pounding on her door and when she answers it Erik appears to tell them that the Germans are taking control. They then walk with him while Susanne is teaching him and telling him that he is completely wrong. They then say that there is no time for sentiment and that they have to stand up and that this is real now. Erik then stays with them waiting for Lisa’s family to get home which takes a long time.

This chapter starts off with Lisa going to Erik's grandparents house to inform them about what is going to happen to the Jewish people and how they have to be careful. Erik's grandfather Karl is related to Lisa through her grandfather but Karl is getting old and has terrible memories so he does not recognize Lisa. She also knows Erik's grandmother Hanne who greets Lisa and ushers her to a chair, meanwhile Lisa is trying to tell her about what is happening. Hanne after being called by Lisa multiple times finally listens while Lisa tells her the news. She also tells her that Erik and her are going back to Copenhagen. Hanne tells Lisa that she can't leave because of her cooking and how she was being working for weeks on it and she does not want the Germans to walk in on her kitchen in shambles. Lisa asks her if she has anywhere to say and she says that her friend Ilse would let her stay there but she continues to protest about now wanting the Germans to take her cooking. Hanne after some convincing decides that she can go and ask Ilse for a place to stay. Lisa laughs at Hanne's antics but then looks over at Erik who, still being convinced that Lisa is being a fool, says that he won't stand for it. He then says he is not truly Jewish but Lisa proclaims that it is his blood that they hate and not whether he is Jewish or not. Erik, still not budging, then receives 2 slaps across the face from Lisa which she says was to knock some sense into him. Karl is surprised then questions Lisa's reasoning which Lisa responds to by saying that she does not want to do it but she had to to help Erik understand and that she believes it and that he should too. She then states that he can't stop denying it and Karl responds understanding now by telling Erik to pack. Erik asks if he needs to help Karl and Hanne but Karl says they are fine and that he must go help them convince his father to go who is even worse than Erik is at believing. Erik, still questioning, agrees and goes to pack for the sake of his grandpa. Lisa asks Karl if he will be ok he says and Lisa comforts him saying that it will be ok then Hanne runs in telling everyone that they can stay with her friends. They all grab everything including valuables and other important things to bring as to not leave anything for the Germans to have. They say their goodbyes telling each other to be safe and then Lisa hops on the 12:00 train with Erik as some German soldier sits down cursing a Dane for killing one of their friends. when they realize what they are talking about they try to get out of their fear that they might hurt them for what one of their people did. One as they try to get out grabs Lisa until she shakes him off and they then enter a compartment for the trip to Copenhagen.

Lisa and Erik are going to Lisa's apartment to talk to Anne and to find Stefan and the rest of Lisa's family. Anne is playing with Sarah as the 2 of them walk in. Anne thanks Lisa for bringing Erik and Anne tells Erik that he has to get his father at the shipyard to tell him what is happening but she also says that Stefan is after his mother. Anne and Erik leave for the shipyard as Lisa and Sarah pack to go find Lisa's father at the hospital. Lisa calls all the Jewish sounding names in the phone book and tells them the same message her father gave her which is that the rabbi is going on holiday and that they should too. She calls for a while until she realizes she has to go. She puts her packed laundry bag on her shoulder and puts Sarah in her arms as they walk out of the apartment for what might be the last time ever. Sarah, who was being so good while Lisa is calling, is now on her shoulder as they hop onto the streetcar heading to Lisa's dad's office. They arrive and head to his office on the second floor where he is working hard with a bunch of paper on his desk. Lisa gets struck with a thought that she might be wrong about the meaning of what her father told her but she is right and made the right call. They talk about Stefan heading for Lisa's mother while they are getting the papers in order. Lisa's dad says that they might be out of Denmark for a while when they leave. Lisa asks where they can go and we learn that they are going to go to Sweden for safety. Lisa then where she can put Sarah and her father replies that she can put her in the corner for a nap. She does that and then puts her stuff there too as Sarah then starts to fall asleep. Lisa then starts working on filling out fake admission forms to give to the hospital so that their families can stay in the wards including their own forms. They work for a while until they go down to the ward after Lisa's dad says that he has to stop helping the people who are coming in to help himself. Lisa then sees Erik through the about 30 other families there and Erik tells them that some German cargo ships are docked at the shipyard and they have no booked time to get cargo there. Eriks dad went home after some talking for the guys at the shipyard and after an argument Erik's dad won't leave and so will his mother because his dad won't leave but he says that she said he must. Lisa's dad says that he will go talk to them about it but Eriks still not believing says that his dad might be right saying they are not ship to pick up captured jews in. They then see Sefan and Lisa's mom who they then talk to about how they had to talk to many people and warn them before they came to the hospital and Lisa's dad adds that he talk to Lisa's moms brother and he said that Lisa's mom's brother was going to talk to the minister of the church to try and help out Poul. They then eat terrible hospital food as Lisa tries to share with Sarah who really hates the food. Lisa's dad leaves and when he comes back after talking to Eriks dad Adam he says that he doesn't budge and that they are not leaving. A bunch of people are arriving and 2 of Lisa's friends just arrived and she knows a bunch of people there. Everyone there is scared and crying and Lisa can't sleep with everything on her mind and the bright lights glaring on her are not helping. She continues to think about Sarah and how the Germans could kill an innocent child like that if Lisa does not protect her and how everyone could be hurt if they get found.

Lisa is going crazy inside the hospital and the raid started on Saturday. The resistance is now trying to figure out a way to get to Sweden without being spotted. A doctor came in and told everyone that the raid happened which caused Erik to break down and stop talking due to the guilt he is facing due to being wrong. A new batch of jewish people entered in a very creative way by a funeral service and outsmarting the Germans. The danes have been smart and have avoided capture. Lisa's and Listen have been remembering what had happened before the invasion and everything they did together before. Meanwhile they are remembering a nurse coming in and telling them they have to go and leave so they all go into ambulances somehow Lisa's family sticking together and they then are going to the coast and then while they are scared in the back waiting for someone trouble to happen. Nothing happens and they get dropped off by the coats to hide in the bushes until it is safe to come out. The Germans are looking for them in the bushes but none of them have been found and people have gotten so desperate that they are ending their lives as to not be captured. The ambulance driver says that the boats are late to arrive so they have to reside in a house owned by resistance supporters until it gets sorted out. The house will be used for other refugees that are also going to use the resistance lead escape and Lisa's has been offered to stay and help Stefan fight against the Germans who are patrolling. Lisa takes up on that offer and tells her parents that she and Stefan are staying back and it is making Lisa's parents nervous and scared. Lisa and Stefan go to meet Stefan's contact which turns out to be Jesper who hands Lisa a gun and explains to her the signals used for whistling. While she is patrolling Lisa and esper are down by the water and they see 2 german soldiers as the danes are trying to get out to the boat. Lisa and Jesper make a coordinated attack against the 2 and kill them and they also kill a 3rd one that is trailing behind. They then put the soldiers on the boat to be dropped off in the ocean. Lisa then thinks about what her parents are thinking and she realizes that there is a possibility that the boat might be stopped but she stops thinking about it and thinks that it is better than being where she is.

Did I like this book? Why?

This book was a great book and it was my favourite one we have ever done this year. This book was surely a long one but the concept of this book was very mature and really gave us an extra history lesson everyday we worked on it. Some examples of how mature this book was were when the man in the bushes kept his promise to his family to kill them so that they would not be captured by the Germans but he wasn't able to finish the job so he had a breakdown and started screaming. This is what would actually happen in real life and it also described perfectly the dire circumstances they were in and how much it got to these people. And my second example was when Lisa was worried about her brother commiting suicide on the way to Sweden because he had a cyanide pill. Lisa acted just like someone in real life would have in a scenario like that and it describes perfectly how someone should and would feel. This book was just a great book all around and I hope next year I can maybe have as much fun in a book report as I did this year and I hope that we read more books at this caliber in the future.

I believe that for Lisa to make her own opportunities she must join a resistance that demark will probably make to help out their people to be well informed on everything around them. I also think that it will be difficult for her to get in because she is young but also because she is a girl and back in the day girls did not have as much rights and were viewed as weak.

I believe that she will be integrated nicely and with no problems just as Sarah was and i also think that Sarah will be a new member of the family too because of her lack of family in the region and I believe they they will treat sarah as their own child to take care of. I also think that Susanne will start to do more for the resistance due to the Germans killing her family and I think she will work with Lisa to get revenge for her mom and dad.

I believe that when they leave for sweden that Lisa will take extra special care of sarah when they leave because of her thought. I also believe that the Nazis will not enter the hospital but may begin to become suspicious and cause the people to have to leave early so that they don';t get caught. I believe this could be caused by a different wave of people coming to the hospital for shelter and that the Germans could have seen them go in but decided not to check yet. I think this not checking could save the lives of the jewish people in their so that they can survive.
