With materials testing, i was very very limited. having only three paint types and only sketching pencils there wasnt much choice.

My water colours were out of the question, being sorted in uniform colour without the ability to change it took away from the entire concept.
Inks are too dark to see Any of the shades with the glasses on, and wen painted - too thin to see the shades as well.

however acrylic was almost perfect for the job with the setback of I dislike using rubber based/thicker paints. given the tests purpose mostly to get myself used to using them.

if it was feasible i would use inks over acrylic however it just isn't right.

This test was specifically intended to be trying to experiment with each colour i used in the pallet; due to many colours looking similar, the greens and browns can be the exact same colours. This can result in myself mistaking one while meaning to use the other.

This test also came out awfully more realistic then I thought any of them would, even with my effort to create it somewhat more abstract.

To ovoid using paints too similar in future testing, I will get peers, teachers or both to make the pallet for me; this will reduce struggle to get a wide range of colours

By painting with the glasses as the the other tests, I also, after seeing the outcome, continued to paint with the same pallet.
This is because with the glasses on it can be exceedingly difficult to see patchy or unpainted areas with certain colours.

The reason i didn't go through with the inkblot tests as my final project is because i couldn't visualise a larger more meaningful piece given the randomness of the outcomes. Having a random element i wanted yet still some control of the pieces more. I began to think of things that actually impact the views of the world; more then just colourblindess were debated - like schizophrenia, however its impossible to replicate that nor do i have a friend nor family member that has it. That made that needlessly difficult to think of an actual practical project.

The colourblocking glasses idea came from a video* that i had seen months before - i simply knew they existed and thought it was interesting, now that i had the project i had an excuse to try them out.

For this specific piece, the final, the pallet that was picked out was by the muse herself. Other then that however she played no other part.

I didnt have the glasses at hand so I used LEDs that had the same effect, after finishing and taking the picture in red I changed the colours of the LEDs to also get the different outcomes you see.
This was to show that it wasnt about using one specific colour, but how colour if affected in general by perception. In this case, light.
I also thought this was more symbolic of colourblindness given how they're more then just one type.

Going into detail about why I used specific colours doesn't apply to this project, because it doesnt matter. Its the chaotic nature of my project that stops it from being picked at with detail, because any could change if the light is different.

For this entire fmp I've used acrylic, which I dont exactly like. But it was necessary for the painting but also to get myself used to different media, so I dont become stuck in a rut.
As an artist I must know how to stay flexible with my own artwork. So pushing my boundaries, especially with a big piece was important.

This was also done on a larger sheet, A3, which I thought more appropriate for the finishing work.

Doing artist research was particularly hard, given that it wasnt an artist that inspired me to do this; but the connection of Data to the perception of the world around us. I cant say that any of the research swayed how I did things, but did more solidify how I did them.
