Titanics keel was placed three months after the Olympics, which was put in December 1907. This meant that the two ships could almost be built on assembly lines, and what the yard taught at the design of Olympic could be quickly transferred to Titanic. Titanic was built next to the sister ship Olympic, which had seat number 400 while Titanic had seat number 401. The work on the two ships quickly accelerated and Olympic was ready to run off the stall on October 20, 1910.
