Meaning

The title "hidden figures" has only one meaning that flows throughout the entire movie. These three inspirational and powerful colored women tested all the odds from behind the scenes. These women did not go up into space, but they did have a lot to do with getting those astronauts up there. The movie is titled "hidden figures" because these women were behind the scenes of getting the USA astronauts into space. They did all the math and the hard stuff that no one could do. They hid in the shadows and were the "hidden figures" of the successful space travel.

Favorite Scene

My favorite scene of this movie was the part where the manager of the section of NASA that Katherine was looking for, tore down the sign that said "colored bathroom". This made it okay for everyone to use the same bathroom, colored girls and white girls, and colored men and white men. This was a real turning point in the movie because it is where everyone gained respect for the colored girls who were the hidden figures behind NASA.

The Message

I believe the message of this movie is the fact that everyone deserves equal chances to do something great. In the movie, when everyone was given equal chances, they found a way to finally send an American rocket to space. If they had not given Katherine and friends a chance to help we still might have not of sent a man to space, and everything would be different. Just because people do not look the same does not mean that they do not think or act the same. Knowledge should not be judged on the way a person looks, it should be judged on their actual knowledge.
