#16 (on the back)

Option #1 - This is correct because it replaces the first underlined word best. Fine arts in public education does "promote' critical thinking. The word "promote" works well here because not every student may actually engage in critical thinking, but it is at least being encouraged or promoted to them.

Option #2 - This is not the best choice because to "provide" is to give, but public education cannot simply give critical thinking to students; they can only promote it.

Option #3 - This is not the best choice because to "supply" is similar to the previous choice meaning to give, and like I previously stated, public education cannot simply give critical thinking

Option #4 - This is a correct choice because "establish" nicely replaces "make" in this context because the artists are establishing their vision, meaning that they are figuring out what their vision will be.

Option #5 = The word "implement" does not work as well in this context because this word suggests that action is already being taken. But if you are just making a vision, then you haven't taken action or 'implemented' anything yet

Option #6 - The word "start" also implies that action is already being taken, but if you are just "making a vision" then you haven't started anything yet.

#16 part A
Option #1 - He does not give up on difficult task easily because in the story it shows how he types and keeps typing while his thumb is broken and hurts.
Option #2 - In the story it doesn't imply that he doesn't have a high education or say that he is intelligent in a way where we could bring this up in this question. so no it is wrong.
Option #3 - In the Toads P.O.V is not an optimistic view but more of realistic view of the world.
Option #4 - When Toad broke his thumb he still wanted to write even though his penmanship was sloppy.

#16 Part B
Option A- It's not the underline sentences because it proves about the Toad giving up and having difficulties.

Option B- Is correct because it clearly states how Toad feels when he writes, Toad doesn't want to write but does it anyways because he has the need to write, which shows his compulsion to write.

Option C- It's not the sentences between the triangle because the sentence doesn't state the constant compulsion feeling that Toad feels to write.

Option D- It's not the sentences that are circle because it shows what Toad has learned about writing rather than the feeling Toad has towards writing.

Option E- It's not the highlighted sentences because it shows Toad's memories of writing rather than his feelings toward writing.

#14

A- This is not the correct answer because Toad speaks about wanting to put the processor into a closet meaning that he found the processor unstylish / uncool. b

B- This is not the correct answer because it doesn't show that toad finds the smith-corona stylish / cool.

C- Is the correct answer because he compares the processor and his hand writing as a Ferrari compared to a gypsy cart.

D- Is not correct because toad just speaks about the hand writing being the man.

#13
Option #1 - Incorrect because atrophied is having lost effectiveness and the first option is in decreased size and a thing can still have effectiveness even if its small in size or it's decreasing.

Option #2 - Correct answer because it makes sense that Toad's writing over time can decline in quality because it can be wasted away and not have any effectiveness. And connects to the definition of the word.

Option #3 - Incorrect "Toad's handwriting atrophied until it was almost illegible" which the meaning of atrophied is that it continued to loose effectiveness but the option said it stopped so it doesn't make sense.

Option #4 - Wrong because handwriting can;t become more difficult for Toads when you read the texts.

#15
Option #1 is wrong because the text is describing his writing, comparing it to a ragtag militia, not about him being a noble like soldier.
Option #2 is wrong because its describing how violent he writes, how his nature for writing about violence. It is not talking about how sloppy his handwriting is and how it looks.
option #3 is correct because it connects back to the simile.
Option #5 is correct because in the quote it explains that his hand writing is "slovenly, but distinctive" showing that his hand writing is sloppy but forming a unique style that is formed from his conditions.
