In this scene, they are having a funeral service for their dead king. We learn that Hamlet's mother is marrying someone else. Hamlet is devastated because his dad is dead, and that his mother is forgetting about him. But he knows he must be the next king.

Hamlet went with the guards to go see if they were telling the truth about seeing his father's ghost. They waited and the ghost came. When the ghost left Hamlet wanted to follow it because it didn't say anything.
