Stage 1: Eggs

Each and every fish starts it's life cycle as an egg. The female fish will lay their eggs in a safe place. The fish eggs can be found in a sandy soft place or between rocks. While the fish is a egg, the organs and tail will begin to grow.

Stage 2: Larvae

When the egg is ready to hatch, they are known as larvae. This is the second stage of the life cycle for a fish. Larvae can get their own food through their yolk sac. The yolk sac has everything the fish will need in order to grow.

Stage 3: Fry

When the fish has eaten all of it's yolk sac, it becomes a fry. Though the fry fish are very small, they grow very quick. At this stage the fry will begin to eat by themselves and find their own food which is very important in helping them grow.

Stage 4: Juvenile

As the fish gets bigger, it becomes a juvenile. Juvenile fish are about the same size as a human finger. During this stage, the fins and scales begin to grow. The juvenile fish are still smaller and weaker than the adult fish.

Stage 5: Adult Fish

The last stage is when a juvenile fish turns into a adult fish. The fish is now fully grown and independent. The female fish can now lay new eggs and the life cycle will begin again.
