School case study 1: "Start simple"Like Elena, are you teaching at the same time as managing the school IT infrastructure? Is your cabling labelled? Does your LAN have a patch panel? Last but not least, what subject do you teach, and what are the challenges in mixing the two roles? Share your answers to these questions as well as any other reflections linked to the video here in the Padlet.

School case study 2: A more extensive setupHow does your school network connect to the internet? What connectivity speed? How do you protect access to the school network from outside? What is the main challenge you face in dealing with network connectivity? Share your answers to these questions as well as any other reflections linked to the video here in the Padlet.

It's not a great video for the image quality and language speaking. In Italy school not exist a role about ICT Administrator but only the great disponibility of teacher. I think that is now necessary foresee this istitutional role in school because the complexity about LAN (in this video this is very explicit) required very specialized person and not technical improvised.
Also is necessary define a team of persons with many competence (pedagogy, technology, didactic, etc.) for manage ICT complexity.

Activity 1: - What is your school using ICT for? Firstly the principal action is navigate about internet. Personally I have a PLE (personal learning enviroment) in EDMODO where i insert my lesson, link, issue, quiz, etc. ecc. - Is there a school vision for ICT? NO there isn't. Same teacher use ICT principally for they technological disciplines. - How are projects designed? There isn't a very designed project with ICT vision. - Through individual initiatives? In the 99% of case, yes. - Through a more general school policy? No! There aren't general school policy. - Why is ICT not being used in some subjects? There are two case: first case because they have not digital competence, second case because they don't want modify they didactical method. Which ones? All. -New pedagogical uses of technology? I don't understand the question. -How do you give access to technology to your students? We have create accounting for every user but not for wifi. - Computer lab? we have 5 computer lab. -Computers in classroom? We have 1 pc in every classroom principally for electronic registry -Individual devices? Actually nobody can use individual device. -Is your network capacity sufficient to meet current and future needs? Actually the internet connection is not adeguate to necessity about video for all client pc because we have only a 30Mbps virtual fibra connection with non minimal brandwith guarantee.

1.7 Activity 2: Upgrading the school infrastructureBased on what you have learnt so far, reflect on your current setup and start thinking of possible areas of improvement. Nothing too formal at this stage, but can you think of:- Ways to improve the performance of your current infrastructure? I think that is necessary to power the internet connection to 100Mbps for to obtain a quality performance about video.- How you could expand the school network? The next step is to implement BYOD feature- Ways to make it more secure? We have a firewall with same ACL rule, ad LDAP account server but not have an IDS server and there aren't any redundancy.-New types of devices or services you could put in place? Actually not.-How to provide technical support and ensure the network performs reliably? I can't to provide technical support because i not have adeguate role.
